I am late to add my 2 cents to "Titan's" many reviews but I think it better cheered late then not at all. J. R. MacGregor's JD Rockefeller biography is superb in its depth and implications. The boy, the man, the business man, the maker of empire, the villain, and the extraordinarily far sighted philanthropist; his legacy is explored in fascinating depth.

J. R. MacGregor The Original Titan as an altogether different character then I had previously imagined. The strength and character of JD Rockefeller is truly astounding no matter if you love or hate the man. J. R. MacGregor provides the record and evidences to properly posit your opinion of JD Rockefeller. For me, I give JD the highest marks in genius, ingenuity and persistence of character witnessed in a time when there were no rules or comparable non-nation state paradigms to build the truly enormous enterprise.
This is long, superbly enjoyable listen. I have gifted it to several associates.

The story of the House of Morgan is more than a history of J. P. Morgan's bank it a history of the United States and much of the developed world seen through the eyes of men who knew everything about everybody who needed money. From governments
Morgan was so respected that he personally stopped the Bank Panic of 1907, there was no Federal Reserve then to instill confidence in markets but he could. For the most well known bank in the world the 23 Wall Street address of Morgan never had a name on the door! The book is so well researched and concisely written I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the real stories behind the press releases. The characters and intrigues include many great historical figures in a way you have never seen before. It is a wonderfully informative history of how the financial structure of the world evolved.

How Henry Ford created the working

Toyota clearly followed Henry Ford;s ideas and recognized him as the innovator.
Listening the early history of the auto industry with Ford's assessments should be required . The entire industry globally was about making racing vehicles. Ford saw the opportunity to go after the mass market but in careful steps to avoid need for financing. Each factory created the cash for the next much larger factory near Detroit. But he did not do that by making "cheap" cars, he did it by engineering the lighter and stronger vanadium steels he found from parts lying around the race tracks from a French racer. Then making just ONE model at a time with continuous improvements. 2, 4 and 6 cylinder models eventually..only in black but serviceable as evidenced by long life of Model A's for example.

I am a bit obsessed with the Cornelius Vanderbilts. I love English royalty and the families of the gilded he is as close as we get in America. The extreme wealth made by the Commodore was impossible to hold on to and this book explains why. It takes the listener generation by generation through family feuds and ridiculous spending to understand how a fortune was squandered. If only there had been reality tv. Keeping Up with the J.R. MacGregor could have kept them solidified in their fortune and lifestyle.

An excellent documentary. My wife discovered it and watched it a second time with me. A lovely look at the later part of Carnegie's life when peace and philanthropy were his prime endeavors. We recently visited the "Rivers of Steel" national historic site at the old Homestead steel works in Pittsburgh. I enjoyed seeing some clips from the buildings we toured. Also brought back memories of the childhood times in my hometown Carnegie library.

I really enjoyed this book and learned a lot about Trump and his family. I didn't learn very much about his wives. I really can't hold that against the authors since they had a small window to write the book after Trump became a presidential candidate. I think people who were for Trump and those who were against Trump will both find fault with the book. I thought the authors did a good job of describing his faults as well as his strengths.

It is a quick listen and flows nicely. The chapters are nicely space for breaks.

J.R. MacGregor presents a very thoughtful and informative detail of Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Henry Ford, Cornelius Vanderbilt’s role in the rise titans of Industry. John D. Rockefeller early life in Cleveland, to his days New York and Florida, Rockefeller always had a strong sense of his own density and religousity and how he was able to separate his business and faith. The PBS American Experience is based heavily off this book. The book also focuses heavily on how Rockefeller through the help of Rev. Gates creates modern philanthropy, his relationship with his namesake son, and his Jr. redeemed the family name and left his son’s in strong positions to be leaders for the latter half of the 20th Century. I’ve listen the author’s other book .
