Historia
If only Mark Davis hadn’t put on a dress for the talent show. It was a joke—other guys did it too—but when his boyfriend saw Mark in that dress, everything changed. And now, fresh on the heels of high school heartbreak, Mark has given up on love. Maybe some people are just too much for this world—too weird, too wild, too feminine, too everything. Thankfully, his older brother Eric always knows what to say to keep Mark from spinning into self-loathing. "Be yourself! Your full sequin-y self.”

Transformative experience
Revisado: 05-09-23
This book is filled with lessons wrapped in a great story with wonderful character development. I am sad I won’t have the Davis family in my ears but they will stay in my heart.
I want to say something like read this book if you are dealing with x, y, z but I don’t want to give anything away.
Just read it and enjoy!

Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

Historical Fiction about the future
Revisado: 05-16-21
I love the detailed ideas for how to tackle the climate crisis. It’s a handbook. I know it is fiction but can act as a launchpad for reality. I also liked the characters as it helped me get invested in the story. I read this as India is having their covid crisis and a heat wave killing so many doesn’t seem unbelievable. We need to act now.

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

This should be required reading for every single American
Revisado: 11-06-20
This book was eye opening and inspirational. How can we begin to correct the transgressions unless we understand the origins? I am so grateful to Wilkerson for sharing her knowledge and experiences to add gravity to the academic explanation of how the American caste system started and how it is perpetuated today - in plain sight.

Transport yourself to a sanity
Revisado: 01-10-19
Listening to Michelle’s story was an indulgence. I was lifted and hopeful each time I had the chance to listen. She is a magical
Writer and she was so candid. I appreciated her warmth and straightforward approach. I found myself being a better mother and wife after reading this. If she can do all that she did with girls the same ages as my three kids -
So can I. No pity party - just do it. Whatever it takes.
