I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a honest review.

Murmers is a deeply meaningful story full of beautiful symbolism. I found myself identifying strongly with both main characters. While it may be a grim cautionary tale about the possible future, it offers the hope that love and compassion can help us to prevail. I was hooked from start to finish.

I enjoyed this cute and spicy tale of a young woman trying something new: the dating scene at a comic book convention. The side characters were colorful and the ending was delicious.

It is understandable and acceptable that this story is derived from Norse Myth; that's why I bought it. However, this story that should have been its own new myth borrowed a bit heavily from three obvious sources.

1. The plot of the first half is basically the same as Circe by Madeline Miller. A quasi-divine witch is ostracized and sequestered out in the middle of nowhere. She can do nothing interesting in her solitude, and relies on visitors (such as a sly charming lover or two) to make her life interesting and get the plot to progress. Stuff happens to the main character and they react (mostly internally) to it all the way through. Miller did it better.

2. The plot of the next half rips off the premise of The Song of Achilles, also by Madeline Miller. A passive healer and a brave warrior have a taboo same-sex relationship. While this relationship is endearing, Miller still did it better.

3. So, how is the big bad conflict finally resolved? The author rip-off the anti-climactic ending of FROZEN 2 to get it all over with. For a book about a witch-goddess, the magic is the least impressive thing about the story.

Still, all derivation aside, this is far from a terrible book. I do not regret buying or listening to it. But I feel its flaws should be pointed out.

This is a fun, sexy fantasy romp. Not too serious. Whimsically enjoyable. Not your average satyr play.

Lindsey Ellis is a humorous and witty individual who somehow manages to leave humor and wit of her story entirely. This story about aliens borrows heavily from movies such as E.T. and Predator, but neglects the humor those films relied upon to add heart and relatability. This story is SO serious that I cannot take it seriously or care about the characters.
However, this story is a feast of frustration, anxiety, and hopeless misery that many readers are certain to enjoy wallowing in. If you are here for the drama, then you've come to the right place. However, Ellis is still brilliant at what she does, even if I don't care for it. Therefore, I will give this book the rating it deserves. 5 stars.

This was a disappointment. The narrator sounds like his nose is plugged up. Plus it sounds like he's struggling to read the words for the first time. Bad performance. The narrator ruins an otherwise fun audiobook. I will be asking for my credit back.

This book is a better than the last one, in that the protagonist truly begins to progress in his journey of self-discovery/recovery. The action is energetic and colorful, as are all the characters. I enjoyed the dialogue and jargon. It feels like first book was all set-up. The story really begins here. The plot twists and turns, yielding surprise after surprise. The author is skilled in keeping your attention.
I like this series, so far, and am giving it five stars because it so far has me hooked. But a story is only as good as its ending. Hopefully, the next book or the one after will give us a bit more closure and resolution.

I suspect this story to be an allegory for pollution. Pollution of the body with pharmaceuticals and pollution of the environment. Weird scary stuff happens to flawed characters, in the manner of a Stephen King novel. I liked it, but would have preferred more information on a few things.

In the spirit of Plutarch, Jess Whitson teaches by comparing. In this book, he compares Stoicism to a broad range of people, places, and things, often with seemingly absurd deductions. I enjoyed this listen.
