Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Entertaining and Informative
Revisado: 11-14-18
Trevor Noah is a great storyteller. He weaves personal narrative in with larger cultural and national history to give a broad picture of South Africa from the ground level. He does a broad range of accents excellently and tells the story well. The nonlinear structure made it occasionally difficult to tell what stories overlapped with each other, but overall does not detract from the story. #memoir #southafrica #autobiography #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

I love this whole series so much. Cat and Andevai have one of the best fictional relationships, and the world building is outstanding. Brings the drama to a satisfying conclusion. #fantasy #alternatehistory #romance #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

A heart-stopping story of love, death, technology, and art set amid the tropics of a futuristic Brazil. The lush city of Palmares Tres shimmers with tech and tradition, with screaming gossip casters and practiced politicians. In the midst of this vibrant metropolis, June Costa creates art that's sure to make her legendary. But her dreams of fame become something more when she meets Enki, the bold new Summer King. The whole city falls in love with him (including June's best friend, Gil). But June sees more to Enki than amber eyes and a lethal samba. She sees a fellow artist.

Reading isn't perfect
Revisado: 11-14-18
I loved the story of this. Futuristic Brazil, a bi-normative world with people seeing men and women with no comment, interesting world set up. However, I feel like the reading leaves a bit to be desired. Both readers read with accents, and while I can't comment on how accurate they are, I will say that they are inconsistent. Lincoln Hoppe in particular has a very strange meandering accent that is pretty distracting. #lgbt #scifi #dystopian #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Historia
Rosemary Harper doesn't expect much when she joins the crew of the aging Wayfarer. While the patched-up ship has seen better days, it offers her a bed, a chance to explore the far-off corners of the galaxy, and, most importantly, some distance from her past. An introspective young woman, she's never met anyone remotely like the ship's diverse crew, including Sissix, the exotic reptilian pilot; chatty engineers Kizzy and Jenks, who keep the ship running; and Ashby, their noble captain.

Meanders
Revisado: 11-12-18
To be honest I was a little disappointed by this one. About a third of the way through I realized I wasn't so much reading a single narrative but rather a series of chronological vignettes. The characters often felt like they were performing Diversity and Inclusivity Jazz Hands, as most of them felt more like caricatures with an author playing purity politics than real well rounded characters with flaws and all. I've heard the next book in the series is more streamlined and has a more cohesive plot, so I may check out the next one though. #scifi #foundfamily #shortstories #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

A true Jane Austen send up of Gothic romances, with a stellar full cast recording! Emma Thompson is of course wonderful as the narrator/author, and the full cast all embody their characters. Funny in the way only Jane Austen can be. #GothicRomance #parody #comedy #classic #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Tim Curry Couldn't Save It

Tim Curry makes everything better but he still couldn't save this dull plod through unimportant European travel and then indistinguishable tunnels. Jules Verne is clearly not for me. #TravelLog #Slow #scifi #TimCurry #International #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

What On Earth Is Wylan's Narrator Doing?
Revisado: 08-18-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Overall, yes. Most of the narrators do a wonderful job. The problem is Wylan's narrator - in particular, whenever he tried to do Kaz's voice. It was AWFUL! Jesper also had a problem of a serious wandering accent.
What did you like best about this story?
A really fun, engaging heist story, though it occasionally suffered from predictability.
What three words best describe the narrators’s voice?
Inconsistent. Sometimes fantastic, sometimes TERRIBLE.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Definitely made me laugh - the banter between the main characters is really charming. There were some heavier emotional moments, but nothing that made me cry.

The audio levels were really inconsistent. While sometimes it was a little too loud, at other times it was so quiet as to be almost inaudible. Very distracting.
