Comprehensive evaluation for how others experience you
Revisado: 07-05-24
It really comprehensive in what it covers. It seems to focus on what one is doing "wrong" for a long time before moving more toward why changing the negative behaviors really matters.

Exclusively from Audible. 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.' So begins Charles Dickens' most famous historical drama: a gripping tale of war, social injustice and the choice between darkness and light. After being unjustly imprisoned for 18 years, French doctor Manette is released from the Bastille jail in Paris and embarks upon a journey to London in the hope of finding the daughter he never met.

Classic Story, but so slow to actual action
Revisado: 04-26-24
Honestly, I may just have to listen again to understand the long buildup's relevance to the later dramatic aspects. Also, Dickens seems very light on condemnation of the atrocities committed against the poor/lower classes leading up to the revolution and quite graphically (and seemingly negatively) of the murders wrought by the people. Again, pethaps a second listen will help me better hear Dickens denounce the evils of the aristocratic reign.

Historia
Why America's sons are underachieving, and what we can do about it. Something is happening to boys today. From kindergarten to college, American boys are, on average, less resilient and less ambitious than they were a mere 20 years ago. The gender gap in college attendance and graduation rates has widened dramatically. In Boys Adrift, Dr. Leonard Sax delves into the scientific literature and draws on more than 20 years of clinical experience to explain why boys and young men are failing in school and disengaged at home.

Historia
McCullough's John Adams has the sweep and vitality of a great novel. This is history on a grand scale, an audiobook about politics, war, and social issues, but also about human nature, love, religious faith, virtue, ambition, friendship, and betrayal, and the far-reaching consequences of noble ideas. Above all, it is an enthralling, often surprising story of one of the most important and fascinating Americans who ever lived.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Good variety on narration while not overdone
Revisado: 12-31-21
The story is well-known by now. If you're listening again, do so with a critical ear to identify both interesting social commentary character archetypes as well as trite "gimmes" for youth fantasy.
