Fantastic Story!
Revisado: 02-02-24
Tricia T LaRochelle has written another compelling book filled with endearing characters who, because of circumstances and past relationships, struggle with self confidence and trust. As Sophie becomes more confident and moves out from under the weight of criticism and judgment she grew up with, her world opens up only to crash when her newfound trust in Brian is shattered. Her ability to prevail is very satisfying. This is a beautiful story of resilience and the power of believing in yourself. I highly recommend this book. I had a hard time putting it down when I read the story, and I enjoyed it even more listening to Anne Tolpegin's narration. Her voice resonated with emotion and clarity. I found, that by reliving the tough moments in the story, I understood the meaning and the character's motives even better than the first time I read the book. I can't think of many books I would want to read twice but this one was a true joy to experience twice.

This story captivated me and held me in thrall from start to finish. It exemplifies the saying “weaving a tale”. This story wove many layers of the complexity of our relationships both past and future.
I highly highly recommend this book.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Authentic and Incredibly Moving
Revisado: 03-26-23
I loved this story for the realistic telling of being born into a disaster of a life from a young boys vantage point while at the same time offering a strong thread of hope that pulls you through the rough times. The narration was incredible as well. I felt like I was listening to the story right from Demon’s own mouth.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

A thoroughly enjoyable story
Revisado: 01-18-23
There are so many layers within this book that make it complex and yet it is a simple story about the life of a boy named Sam. Sam struggles to believe in himself through some very traumatic events. His mother’s love and unbending belief in Sam along with “God’s will” runs like a backbone throughout the story.
I highly recommend this book.

A Thrill Ride You Won't Want to Miss
Revisado: 12-04-16
Stephanie Meyer is a genius when it comes to creating characters that are both endearing and extraordinary. She has done it again in this exciting thrill ride of a story. It is full of unexpected twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire ride. I could not put this book down without feeling regret that I had to wait to find out what was going to happen next.
