Historia
The streets are about to explode…and Puyallup’s local paranormal investigator Jimmy Kincaid is caught right in the middle of it. The neighborhood’s criminal syndicates are on the brink of all-out war, and if they go at it, the streets will run red—literally. But Jimmy’s got more problems. Someone’s sending him a particular message by sending him severed limbs. And then there’s the hitmen coming after him. Last but not least, he’s got to broker a deal between the biggest elven street gang in Seattle and a vicious Triad gang—and not get himself killed in the bargain.

Good Performance, but bad story
Revisado: 09-13-24
There are a few parts of this story that break established lore. Magic and Tech working side by side with zero issues. Vampires still being somewhat common, and it not being a huge deal that one is found and not hunted to extinction. Towards the end, the story also became very predictable. So much so I had to put it down. The only thing I can recommend is the voice actor, who does an amazing job with what little was handed to him. but otherwise, this can be skipped.

too progressive at the end
Revisado: 06-20-24
replacing words like 'boyfriend' with 'partner', and no gender politics, given the time period there def should have been more 'fight like a girl' and doubting mereci for being a woman in the story. not in the next part of, but def in this time period. 5/10 decent story, but too influenced by modern politics.

Too Abridged

Story is, very clearly, abridged. Important story points are completely skipped over, and further references make it even worse.

Doesn't age well
Revisado: 11-30-19
Right off the bat, the narrator is good. He doesn't have a huge range of voices, and some of his accents remind me of countries other then what they are supposed to represent (English accent gave me real Australian vibes). But he got enough of them right, that he did help the story come alive.
The story, however, has not aged well. None of the characters felt real to me. Just charactures of what they represented. The tech is so old, its actually comical. Dial up modems anyone? Also, many of the gun terms were strait up wrong. Semi-automatic being referred to as just automatic, and automatic was called full-auto.
This was clearly made in the late 80's or very early 90's, and has not aged well in that time. I would say give this one a pass.

Historia
Though Han Solo has thrilled Star Wars fans for decades, the notorious wisecracking scoundrel was chasing adventure and dodging trouble long before he walked into the cantina at Mos Eisley spaceport. Young Han dreams of someday soaring into space at the helm of his own starship and leaving his home, the gritty industrial planet Corellia, far behind. But as long as he's trapped in a life of poverty and crime - and under the thumb of the sinister Lady Proxima and her brutal street gang - reaching the distant stars seems impossible.

Good story, but unsure about character motives
Revisado: 04-17-19
basically was the movie tbh. Not that this is a bad thing, just know going in that its essentially the movie. I will say that I don't understand Keira's motivations, why she chose what she did. Still, and enjoyable ride from start to finish.

Historia
The year is 2108, and the North American Commonwealth is bursting at the seams. For welfare rats like Andrew Grayson, there are only two ways out of the crime-ridden and filthy welfare tenements: You can hope to win the lottery and draw a ticket on a colony ship settling off-world...or you can join the service. With the colony lottery a pipe dream, Andrew chooses to enlist in the armed forces for a shot at real food, a retirement bonus, and maybe a ticket off Earth.

Compelling story, very well done narration
Revisado: 11-23-18
the story was well done, though I did feel it dragged in a few areas. the action is nice, the tech is futuristic enough to be interesting but not so advanced as to be space magic.
the narrator was good too. he had a large range of voices and accents to draw from. and I would very much say he is a solid reader. the only way the story could be improved is with sound effects.
this one is very much recommended from me.

good action, people feel hollow
Revisado: 10-23-18
first off, this will be spoiler-tastic for the first book. you have been warned
so, the action scenes are good in this book. and I mean really good. so if that's all your after. then I would say this is a great read.
but, what bothers me is the ai character, and peoples reaction to it. essentially is manipulates the whole of human civilization, for the purpose of creating a society that can wage war for a long time. creating death, destruction, and war throughout our solar system. and what's more, everyone just shrugs and goes along with it.
it makes them seem hallow. instead of being angry at manipulated, or upset at the loss of their loved ones, or any other emotion I would think normal for the situation, all we see are people who are OK with this.
maybe that changes in book 2, but I have no desire to read more shell characters in the hope that they might get fleshed out.
