Robert Oppenheimer was one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, a brilliant physicist who led the effort to build the atomic bomb but later confronted the moral consequences of scientific progress. When he proposed international controls over atomic materials, opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb, and criticized plans for a nuclear war, his ideas were anathema to powerful advocates of a massive nuclear buildup during the anti-Communist hysteria of the early 1950s.

Amazing historical read

My husband and I wanted to listen to this book before the Oppenheimer movie comes out. Looking forward to Cillian Murphys performance (there is a striking resemblance between the two men) and Nolan’s interpretation of the book. This was a fascinating book and the authors research and detail was superb. The narrator’s voice was difficult at times to listen to, droning and monotone compared to multiple audio books I’ve listened to. But the story itself kept me tuned in. I will definitely look into some of the authors other books.

9/28/22 Having just visited Bletchley Park, this book brought to life the daily lives of BP workers. There were so many instances when I said to myself, “Yes, I saw that or experienced that.” So very fun for me!!! Great narration, loved this book!!!

Great writing, the storyline was full of all sorts of interesting and not well known information about the resistance in France. I so appreciated the authors attention to all the WW2 detail. I look forward to other books by Sundin. Great read, made me cry, and books never make me cry.
