Historia
Recruited as a codebreaker of enemy ciphers, ex-debutante Osla Kendall spends her days translating Axis military messages and her nights reading mystery novels. When Osla gets her hands on Agatha Christie's most recent work, N or M?, a mysterious signal within its pages catches her eye, and she and her eccentric book club get in touch with the famous but reclusive writer. Osla's outreach is a welcome distraction for Agatha, who feels restless and underestimated toiling away in a London pharmacy.

Historia
Ambitious ice queen and corporate lawyer Felicity Simmons has spent her life focused on one thing: scuttling up the career ladder. She's achingly close to taking charge of a media empire for her boss when she's sent to investigate a South Bronx charity that helps homeless people's pets. Has the charity made off with her boss's generous donation? And, who on earth is that gorgeous soft-butch veterinarian who looks as if she could toss a Shetland pony over one shoulder? Not that Felicity has any interest in some opinionated Amazon or her adorable fleabag of a dog.

A Vocal Audiobook for me
Revisado: 10-27-22
A vocal audiobook because early on I found myself getting wrapped up in the story and characters and talking to them ,sometimes loudly with strong warnings. The warnings were often unnecessary because the story took different turns.
I really enjoy a book that has a good story with depth of characters and aspects beyond Person meets Person and lust is all. This book has that with a realistic view of human traits we experience in so many ways…

Opportunity for greater understanding
Revisado: 09-28-18
When a book brings me to a greater understanding of unfamiliar life paths and experiences, I am grateful for the expansion. When I find my impressions of others has been softened with compassion, I am humbled by the privilege. I thank Tanya Marquardt for the offer of her experiences. Add to that, she does a fine narration of her book in audible.

How delightful a fine narration/performance of a book is. It supplies one an experience of the story in a new way through another voice. I am so appreciative of the audible version becoming available.
As to Story:
Is a long held path the most important and fulfilling? Is the blossoming of love enough to chose another path? And the twists are always intriguing…

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Any additional comments?
The reviews are so accurate in the many aspects of this book. What can I add---except to say it touched a core of emotions in me. I laughed. I cried. I decried the power of the bully. I empathized with the plight of the bullied. I marveled at the strength to endure. I literally wept with the emotions stirred more than once. Robert Dugoni has done well at performing his own book. The truths of human emotions and frailties and perseverance and acceptance and so much more are in this novel just waiting for you. You may even become more in touch with your own extraordinary life.

Historia
Nimeta married a responsible man she met in college, had two children, and established a busy journalism career - and there was no reason to think anything would ever change. Then one day, while reporting on a protest in Zagreb, Nimeta’s life takes a dramatic turn. Not only does she lay eyes on a handsome reporter who captures her heart, but a little-known politician by the name of Slobodan Milosevic delivers a speech fanning the flames of long-dormant Serbian nationalism.

Recent history presented in the story
Revisado: 04-10-15
Any additional comments?
I know people who traveled to Sarajevo during the siege on humanitarian missions. They described the stress and fear suffered by the people who were determined to continue daily lives right through horrendous conditions. There is much history presented here that explains how that particular conflict came about. It is not unlike so many other conflicts in history and in present day wherein two or more factions living in peace are torn apart when inspired by those who want war and dominance. It was good to listen and learn more of the history of what happened in the early nineties and hearing it along with a story spoken through the characters increased the interest. The story is left open which could leave one unsatisfied and perhaps there will be a second novel to complete the story of the character's lives and of the history to the current time.
