Historia
Of the three dominant ideologies of the 20th century - fascism, communism, and liberalism - only the last remains. This has created a peculiar situation in which liberalism's proponents tend to forget that it is an ideology and not the natural end-state of human political evolution. As Patrick Deneen argues in this provocative book, liberalism is built on a foundation of contradictions.

Classical Liberalism is turned in on the self
Revisado: 08-16-24
Patrick Deneen demonstrates that the Classical Liberal project has understood freedom in terms of the autonomy of the individual. The Classical view prior to the Enlightenment saw liberty attained by cultivation of virtue. Deneen does not advocate a return to the past but he insists that Classical Liberalism has run its course and we should be looking to the future as we learn from the past. Excellent book.

Historia
In Grace Alone: Audio Lectures, together with accompanying book, Grace Alone, scholar Carl Trueman looks at the historical and biblical roots of the doctrine that salvation is by grace alone, a free gift unmerited by human effort or works. Lessons examine the development of this theme in the early church through the Reformation to the Protestant confessions that still shape the church in the present day. Trueman also explores the biblical means of receiving God’s grace through the fellowship of believers, the sacraments, and through the Word of God.

Grace as reality
Revisado: 05-10-21
Excellent lectures by Trueman. He demonstrates that Grace is more than a sentiment. It is a reality that is grounded in the person and work of Jesus Christ who has entered into this world. An essential and timeless message.

Excellent!
Revisado: 10-11-20
N.T. Wright and Michael Bird puts the story of Jesus in it’s historical context which ironically shows how relevant it is for us today. The King of Israel is in fact the King of the world. I would highly recommend this to both Christians and skeptics. All to often we in the West interpret Christ through our own cultural context. The richness of the gospel comes to life in a first century Jewish context which is where Wright and Bird grapple with the crucified and risen Christ. Beautiful message.
