Historia
A US Army Special Forces team carrying sterilized weapons and unmarked uniforms is on its way to Colombia. The mission: conduct covert, unilateral raids to destroy cocaine processing laboratories. Of course nothing is as it seems especially once the CIA gets involved. Throw in an Israeli mercenary, betrayal and double-dealing in Washington and the team soon finds itself wondering what the real mission is.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. The story was actually quite boring and the ending was as very disappointing.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
You could sleep through it and not miss much.
Would you be willing to try another one of Steven Cooper’s performances?
Probably not: especially if he uses the same narrator.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
Any additional comments?
The narration sounded so mechanical compared to others. Also, the corny accents were comical. This one's a $5 book at best. Sorry.

Historia
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Not worth my monthly credit
Revisado: 02-17-14
Would you try another book from Blake Crouch and/or Phil Gigante?
I doubt it.
What was most disappointing about Blake Crouch’s story?
Unless I slept through it, which is entirely possible, there was no story. It starts with people getting killed for no apparent reason, so a family runs. Their trip is painfully long and I learned the Northern Lights don't show in Canada, since that was unaffected.
Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
What character would you cut from Run?
N/A
Any additional comments?
There was a point in the first couple hours that I wanted to kill the good guys because of the constant complaining. Sorry, but this one was painful to get through but my rule is if I buy it, I listen to it.

Quite Possibly the Worst Book I've Ever Purchased!
Revisado: 06-28-13
Would you try another book from Ashley & Jaquavis and/or Cary Hite?
Absolutely not.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Dan Brown
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
It was obnoxious to listen to the entire 10 hours.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Cartel?
The ending was as poorly thought out as one could imagine.
Any additional comments?
I've only purchased 40 books from Audible, but this one was easily the worst. It was a super crappy story line with obnoxious accents for the different characters and lousy/cheesy sound effects. I think the thing that drove me the most nuts was the gratuitous use of the "N" word throughout the book. The book is about Black thugs and couldn't cast a worse shadow on Black people. Unless you like hearing lots of racial epithets and bad stereotypes, you should avoid this one.
