Historia
The world of Rale is being consumed by Nolost, the entity of destruction. There are only days left to stop him, and only one man who can: the nethermancer Dante Galand. But the mentor who would have shown him how has just been slain by Nolost's armies. With his last hopes fading, Dante hatches a mad plan: travel into the afterlife, find his dead mentor, and finish training in the ancient technique to kill the entity.

a satisfying conclusion
Revisado: 09-03-24
If you've stuck with these characters this long, you'll know what you're getting into. Ed did a good job bringing it to it's close and, finally, we find out what is up with Arawn.
Tim G. Reynolds is the best in the game, but don't tell Kramer I said so. He nails it, but after listening to 40 or more books he's read, I would expect nothing less from him.

Loved it- may be spoilers in this review

A great continuation to the series. After wondering what happened to Rondal for the last few books, we finally get to know what he's been up to and learn about the chaos Penny describes to Min upon his return at the end of Footwizard. Though I liked Knights Magi and Courtwizard, I think this is my favorite of the non-Minalin books. Terry also moves the story past the end of the last book, and gives us descriptions of Min from the observations of others, which I really appreciated. Good read and engaging.

In the ice, east of the Black Rock, there is a hole into which broken children are thrown. Yaz's people call it the Pit of the Missing, and now it is drawing her in as she has always known it would. To resist the cold, to endure the months of night when even the air itself begins to freeze, requires a special breed. Variation is dangerous, difference is fatal. And Yaz is not the same.

Revisado: 01-19-22
Much like he did with The Red Queen's War trilogy, Lawrence has expanded the world of a previous trilogy and delivered something totally different but highly engaging. I think this trilogy may be shaping up to be my favorite of his so far, and I've read all his books. Give it a try, you don't have to read any of his other books to jump right into this trilogy.

Awesome and hilarious
Revisado: 01-19-22
Loved this book! Not as gritty as the last trilogy, and filled with dark humor. I've read all of Mark Lawrence's books and this intro to the Red Queen's War is definitely top 3, mainly just because I didn't expect for the read to make me laugh so much. Love it when an author switches up their style from what you expect... and still delivers a great read that engages you and draws you into the world they've created.

Historia
Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.

Another good novella from McClellan
Revisado: 03-21-17
I always enjoy McClellan's writing. Good stories, engaging characters, good pacing.
Not as big of a fan of this reader. Amongst my varied minor complaints I could iterate, the biggest annoyance was the pronunciation of Ka Poel. Readers need to have the author tell them how to say the names of main characters and important secondary characters. McClellan's other reader has a different pronunciation and has read a significantly larger portion of the series. His pronunciation of the character's names should've been provided to this reader prior to recording.

A great start to McClellan's next series
Revisado: 03-19-17
Having greatly enjoyed the Powdermage Trilogy and McClellan's novellas, I was very excited to see Sins Of Empire become available. Once again, the author has delivered an engaging novel that draws you into his world and his characters. The reader does a fantastic job and brings back the same "voices" for the familiar characters while wrapping you into the highs and lows like a bard of old. I'd highly recommend Sins of Empire to any McClellan fan, and any fan of darker epic fantasy.
