Historia
The truth is, everyone has pain, and the next wave of adversity is coming. Author Allan Blain knows this firsthand. On the outside many people believed he was doing just fine—great job, beautiful wife and kids, and a growing bank account. At the same time, the riptide of personal addictions, family tragedies, and unthinkable loss, pulled him under, threatening his safety and sanity.

I was gifted this book, and figured I’d give it a read as part of my professional development for work. I am convinced this title helped me exponentially not primarily in my vocation, but personally in how I want to live my life.
Hearing Allan’s raw honestly about his own struggles and his family’s struggles, even though on the outside everything looked picture perfect, was encouraging. So often, I’m tempted to smile in the Instagram post while rotting in a more private area of my life. Allan’s story of hope through Christ’s goodness and grace on his life is proof that things can not only look good but be, truly, good on the inside.
I’m inspired to prayerfully set professional goals, take a vitamin or two, hit the gym, and find a mentor (or five) after reading this volume. I hope you read it too.
