Historia
From his earliest work in the 1950s to today, Willie looks back at the songs that have defined his career, from his days of earning $50 each to his biggest hits, from his less well-known songs (but incredibly meaningful to him) to his concept albums. Along the way, he also shares the stories of his guitar Trigger, his family and “family,” as well as the artists he collaborated with, including Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Dolly Parton, and many others.

Sad to say - disappointed
Revisado: 04-17-25
I'm an Ethan Hawke fan, but the narration of this book is awful. Couldn't finish it. Forced myself to get to the end of chapter two, but just couldn't get any further. Would love to hear more about Willie's life and his story, but I'd rather read it myself or find another book about/by Willie. This one just couldn't hold my attention.

Read in part by Cher herself, the book is introduced, and each chapter launched, by the author. Rounding out each chapter as she continues the narrative is celebrated stage actor Stephanie J. Block. Stephanie starred on Broadway in The Cher Show for which she won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award.

Revisado: 04-17-25
I'll be impatiently waiting for part two!! I've always been a Cher fan, but that's doubled now! The narration was great. It was amazing how much Stephanie Block sounds EXACTLY like her! When they switched, I hardly noticed the different in the voice, the pace, just everything. Icon is an understatement - absolutely fantastic listen!

Historia
At the tender age of twelve, Jaleel White auditioned for the role of Steve Urkel, the socially inept genius, who was in love with his next-door neighbor, Laura. Though Steve Urkel was intended to be in only one episode, Jaleel’s indelible performance catapulted Urkel into the pantheon of American pop culture. But success can cost as much as it pays. After nine years on the popular sitcom Family Matters, Jaleel is twenty-one, a UCLA undergrad, and adjusting to a world and industry that sees him as the nasally nerd in high water pants, suspenders, and coke bottle glasses.

Mr. & Mrs. White raised an amazing young man. It's refreshing to see how his childhood and his money was handled (properly) by his mother. And this dude has kept such a level head with his celebrity. So easy to listen to and Jaleel entertains with his life story. Thanx for the memories, Urkel!!

Not as good as "ME", but very good!
Revisado: 02-07-25
This was not as entertaining as the auto-biography, but still very good. Interesting to hear about the tour, life on the road, his review of his career, etc. Sir Elton has stood the test of time & his music has & will live on forever! At times, the book seemed a bit "braggy" about the shows, the size of the crowd, just everything surrounding the story. Then, it was reeled back in with his humble & profound adoration of his fans & what they have given him over the decades. Glad I listened to this career recap. Farewell, Sir Elton and GOD BLESS your remaining years with your family.

Historia
I was born and broken in Birkenhead, abused from infancy by a network of every kind of pervert from ‘thinks it’s love’ to ‘show it hurts’. I was unwanted, beaten, sold, swapped, photographed, filmed, left for dead, corrupted, blamed, betrayed, ignored and orphaned. But I was also born with a fire inside me. I call it my Phoenix Fire. I am no victim—that word only describes what happened to me. Nor am I a survivor because that implies I am over it. I am a Phoenix—a work in progress. This is my story....

Heartbreaking & triumphant at the same time
Revisado: 01-28-25
So incredibly hard to listen to the strife she went through from childhood on. The number of times she tried to report and was dismissed was excruciating. Heartbreaking to hear her go through the account and try to get someone to believe her. Shy's bravery amazes me to "take it" in hopes to save her sister. An incredibly brave, strong, beat-down, rise from the ashes Pheonix who survived it all. God bless her for having some form of normalcy in her adult life even with the heartache of losing a son. She is a true inspiration & I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

Heartwrenching reality for too many
Revisado: 01-08-25
I know there are several children taken and abused daily. I listened to this book after watching the Netflix documentary. Both are heartbreaking. It was interesting though once I could put a face with the name I was hearing in the book. The tragedy Suzanne endured in her short time on earth is unimaginable, yet it's a heartwrenching reality for too many young children. Heartbreaking to listen to, but such an important story. I was so glad to find the sequel to this book for the updates & the face that he was FINALLY held accountable for these horrors is good enough for my mind to be at peace. RIP the dear, tortured souls that were touched by this monster.

Historia
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Beautiful memoir by mother/daughter
Revisado: 12-02-24
Lisa Marie and I were the same age (just 2 months apart) and while I thought her life had to be SO amazing (when I was younger), I began to understand later just how troubled her life had to be in the spotlight. No matter how "normal" they tried to make everything, I cannot imagine living in the spotlight as she has. So sad to see her life decline as it did and very proud of her daughter as she carries on without her brother & her mother. A terrific memoir by those so closely involved & proud of Riley for finishing what her mother started.

Entertaining & pretty much what I expected after following Reed for several years. I understand his passion & love to watch storms, but don't have the guts to chase them as he does. I did enjoy the weather lessons included in the book. While I enjoy weather systems, I enjoyed the glossary & explanation as to how they build. Good read/listen! Never Stop Chasing!
