Skippy & Joe. What a team!!

Love this series. The excitement continues in every book. It would have been cool for Joe to let his friends on Paradise know he was alive but it makes sense them not knowing. Thoroughly enjoyed the series so far.

Historia
On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii. Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve.

As always, it’s great to catch up with the tribe. Low keyed story to show procedural police work. Another Eve Dallas and team to add to the shelf.

Historia
In Search Of Black History with Bonnie Greer brings you face-to-face with the people you never knew existed. People whose stories tell us a different tale about who we all are. From the earliest glimmerings of modern humanity, up to the present day, Bonnie Greer uncovers the lives of people of African descent that don’t fit with the accepted history of Western Civilisation we’ve traditionally been taught. From saints, to philosophers, to warrior women and king’s heralds - these people’s lives have been lost, hidden and distorted down the centuries.

One dance at a stranger’s wedding. That’s all it took for me to fall for Alexis. And then? Disaster. Another man - her boyfriend - gets down on one knee, and proposes to her. I never thought I’d see her again. Years later, my brothers and I need to get our new Wilder Resort off the ground, and Alexis is the only one savvy enough to help. But she's changed since we met. She’s gun shy. And still, there’s a spark between us that will not die. We both fight it, until we don’t. Until, history repeats itself. The same guy who took her away from me is back to do more damage.

A good start to this series.
Revisado: 05-24-22
I read the Prequel...A Night for Us and loved it. I couldn’t wait for One Way Back to Me…Eli’s story. I liked this story and enjoyed the dynamics between the Wilder brothers and the people who worked for them. I also liked, although somewhat unrealistic, some of the struggles they dealt with…namely their competitions…as they built the Wilder Resort.
The Wilder Resort is growing and expanding. To take the wedding branch of their business to another level, they needed to hire an experienced wedding planner. Alexis, struggling to restart her life after a messy divorce is interviewing for the position. At the interview, she realized that Eli was the man she had danced with at the wedding where her ex-husband had proposed to her. Eli was surprised that Alexis, the woman he had felt that instant spark for but who had accepted the public proposal of her then-boyfriend a couple of years ago, was the woman interviewing for the wedding planner position. Alexis is hired for the position and she is determined to prove her worth. Eli is also determined to ignore the attraction he still had for Alexis and maintain an employer/employee relationship. The story moved along very nicely and it was cute to watch Eli and Alexis navigate their budding relationship.
I had issues with a few things...I didn’t get why the brothers did nothing about the owners of the competing resorts just showing up at the Wilder Resort wherever and whenever they felt like it, slinging slurs and disturbing their business, and no one stopped it. The first time it occurred I could see it, but when they kept popping up I wondered when the brothers would call the police or have their lawyer hit them with a restraining or no-trespassing order.
I also thought that Alexis, for all the effort she put into her business, did nothing to stop her ex-husband from taking everything from her…the later reveal of her background was also counterproductive because I would think with that type of access and knowledge, she'd have done better with legal representation. The way she was so angry at Eli for defending her against her ex, when he attacked her, while trespassing on private property, was annoying.
All in all, I liked the story and look forward to reading the other brothers' stories. I was provided an ARC from the author and am volunteering for a review.

Maximoff and Farrow finally wed
Revisado: 06-12-20
A very good read indeed.
I liked how their story culminated in this book. Although things don’t always go smoothly for them, their wedding and everything leading to it made it very worthwhile. I also adore Ripley and the new pup. Seriously how cute. JF Harding & Alexander Cendese as narrators are awesome. They do a wonderful job bringing to life Maximoff & Farrow, as well as the rest of the clans. It is a pleasure listening to their work on the series.

Historia
The happiest day of Payton Lambert's life was the day she graduated high school and watched Bald Knob, Kentucky, get smaller and smaller in her rearview mirror. She wanted more for her life than a tiny town where everyone knows your business and you can't find a decent cup of coffee for at least 40 miles. Twelve years later an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night has her packing up her life in Chicago and racing back home to the one person she ever regretted leaving behind.

Hemi Ranapia isn’t looking for love. Fun, yes. Love, not so much. But a summer fishing holiday to laid-back Russell could turn out to be more adventure than this good-time boy ever bargained for. Reka Harata hasn't forgotten the disastrously hot rugby star she met a year ago, no matter how much she wishes she could. Too bad Hemi keeps refusing to be left in her past.

Finally-Hemi and Reka's romance (short but sweet)
Revisado: 09-05-19
I've inhaled the entire series so far (waiting for #12 on AE) so it was great to listen to Hemi and Reka's story. They are pretty much the touchbase in all the other books. When Hema and Reka show up in a book, you know the current couple has the seal of approval. This book, while a lot shorter than the others, still packs a punch. Hemi had to work hard to win Reka and it was well worth it. A pleasure to listen to this one.
