My favorite new great course!

I have never finished a great course so quickly! Took me just under a week to finish all twelve lectures. The professor was engaging, funny, personal, and absolutely knew and understood C.S. Lewis. I will be going back to listen all over again and hope to be able to hear more from this professor as well since he is easily one of the best I've listened to on the Great courses. Fantastic depth in each lecture as well as practical on explaining why and how they form a whole in Lewis' literature and theology. I totally did not cry on the last lecture...

A clear perspective on Gods priority for your life

This book has provided such a clear and straightforward path for attaining the Holy and pure kind of life that God desires His people to have that anyone who honestly desires change in this area of their life can find it in the truths this book proclaims, since those truths are coming from Gods word and the author repeatedly pulls from scripture. My favorite part of this book was how the chapter on The Arrogant man. I would listen again and probably will buy the book to have as a reference too. The narrators voice did occasionally have me drifting off but overall I felt like the Narrator does a really good job with the book.

Mimi Guarneri pours her life experience for this.

I felt as though the Narrator Mimi Guarneri has done an excellent job here to express her own personal experience and how that has shaped her own views on wholistic health and why that is relevant to people who want to be healthy in every sense of the word. Enjoyed this a lot and have taken much of this course with me as it relates to my daily living and overall health. Thanks Mimi!

The passion and performance of Professor Jeremy McInerney was just excellent. Enjoyed every lesson and certainly learned a lot. Give this a listen, supremely well done.

The professor does a wonderful job of keeping the listener engaged as well as bringing us the contextual life of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Enjoy this great overview of the greatest philosophers who ever lived.

Where does The Art of Investing: Lessons from History's Greatest Traders rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably in my top 3. I actually listened to all the chapters and really enjoyed the teaching from Professor John, M Longo.

What other book might you compare The Art of Investing: Lessons from History's Greatest Traders to and why?

I've only just begun learning about finance markets and investing and so there are not a lot of other books I've listened to, this was my third. The only comparable book for me that I will comment on is "The little book that beats the market" by Joel Greenblatt since Professor John, M Longo actually mentioned him at the end and that was humorous since I had just finished reading that book!

What does Professor John M. Longo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The experience was very similar to being in a classroom (obviously so for The Great Courses), yet one in which the teacher kept your attention the whole time. Clearly Professor Longo is very interested in the material and demonstrated a desire to represent each new investor in a unique and unbiased manner. I appreciated his teaching style which I felt allowed me to retain a great deal from each lecture as he carefully explained what was necessary for each topic/investor.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extremes, but listening was usually quite riveting since every new investor discussed presented a story in which I had no idea how the story would end and in which I new there would be key take-away's that would allow me to practically apply lessons learned as well as idea's I agreed with.

Any additional comments?

Lastly, the detailed PDF was one of, if not the best, outline I have used on audible for following along during the lectures or for reviewing after the lecture. The main points were organized and clearly laid out in a logical flow that helped me understand the key ideas at each point in the lecture. Fantastic job overall Professor,

best audible book to date

fantastic book with applicable ideas as well as a self reflective process on desires, personality, and goals. overall I would recommend and the narrator was also fantastic and I would like to listen to other books narrated by him. I very much would like to have lunch with Guy Spier just to talk more about wisdom and good conversation. Did I mention the book was great?

This is not Money Management

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

After finishing the second chapter, the professor discusses how it is not in your best interest to save money at 25, since this is when you should be living it up. As a 25 year old who spent all too much money...I cannot see any benefit to this idea except that it is not wisdom or money management at all. It is philosophical lifestyles, which is not what I purchased. If I wanted to have someone recommend how to live my life I would buy other books, so in short this does not contain legitimate content on money management.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something hopefully which contains actual money management information rather than ethical and philosophically motivated arguments which waste my time since this is not what I was looking for.

What didn’t you like about Professor Michael Finke’s performance?

I have stated this already, I disagree with the professor on his initial lifestyle theory and since this is his basis for the whole series I cannot accept the unsound advice he gives regarding how to live life, again this is not money management but rather a life choice based on agreeing with his ideas of how life should be lived.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment, I would like advice on how to manage the money I have and not be lectured on how I should live life.
