Revisado: 04-07-24
reading this book is like coming home to a supportive family and community. I love all this author's books what she does is quite amazing. there are really good characters and lots of bad things happen but overall the book is very warm and inviting and it's something that I treasure. every new book in this series advances the characters and the community development and it's just something wonderful.
the narrator is quite good but not great I enjoy her voice and she does a good job with all the different characters and the German for the dogs. but she doesn't quite as much to the book as some other narrators. but does she does a lot better job than most narrators so it was an enjoyable experience listening to the book my only regret is that I have to wait for the second audiobook

Historia
The Wilderlands are said to contain many dangers. On most maps the area remains blank and only the bravest of travelers will venture beneath its canopy. For monsters roam these woods, which made it the perfect place for a legendary swordmaster to disappear from the world for a time and raise a child. For seventeen years Holviti of Yuutan raised Duren in those woods, training him in the sword, hunting the creatures that called it home, but as is the case with all young men, there comes a day when one must leave his fathers home and make their own mark on the world.

a fun book, terrible narration
Revisado: 04-14-20
The narration is wooden and detracts from the story. Good narration brings a lot to the story, it can more than bring the story to life, it can provide for new understandings and new ways of looking at the story. This narration is NOT that.
The books itself is good enough that I still was glad to listen to it. It's not a deep book, but just some lighthearted fun and I enjoyed reading it very much. i read all the other books in the series and will continue to do so.
I do love the author's other books more than the ones in this series and would like him to go back and do more in that series.

Historia
An insidious cabal has decided to change the direction of the United Alliance of Stars (UAS) with a coup d’etat - but not through a military takeover. They have devised a subtler coup: the manipulation of the Committee, the 15-star system that sets policy for the UAS. The UAS Committee enlists their de facto troubleshooter, Anna Paulus, to shut down the cabal, but they insists she leave the NIA and manage UAS Committee Security. For Anna it’s a nightmare scenario, leaving her safe world for a completely new environment dominated by macho men with years of combat experience.

Revisado: 12-31-19
The narration is a great match to Anna, so it's a pleasure to listen to the book. There's nothing jarring or out of place. I like the character and I love the narration. The narrators speech patterns and voice are really enjoyable, seemingly light and pensive, much like the character.
The action is good and shows how Anna's unconventionality draws people to her.

Historia
Tau Ceti is the sixth in a series of near-future scifi/thrillers whose young heroine, Ell Donsaii, has a nerve mutation which has made her a genius and an athletic phenomenon. In Tau Ceti, she is continuing to find uses for the quantum entangled wormholes that she has discovered. These wormholes aren’t big enough to send people through, yet they are making huge changes in our world. Ell used one to send a small rocket to the third planet of Tau Ceti where it's sending back images of intelligent but primitive beings that can fly!

I'm so glad to see each Ell Donsai audiobook. It's so much fun to see what is going to be invented next and to see her family grow.
The narration is good, the only issue is that the Eiplogue that contains Shan's discovery that Raquel is really Ell isn't included.

It's a great story and great narration
Revisado: 06-25-19
I like the story, it has more depth than a lot of books these days.
The world building around the witches and werewolves was really well done. I'm looking forward to the next book.
The narration was really good. The narrator's voice was lovely - so many narrator's voices are really grating - and she conveyed the atmosphere of the story really well.

Historia
Sam Jones and Zoe Miller have one thing in common: they both want an escape from reality. Loner Sam flies under the radar at school and walks on eggshells at home to manage her mom’s obsessive-compulsive disorder, wondering how she can ever leave to pursue her dream of studying aerospace engineering. Popular, people-pleasing Zoe puts up walls so no one can see her true self: the girl who was abandoned as an infant, whose adoptive mother has cancer, and whose disabled brother is being sent away to live in a facility.

fraught, sad, brilliant, riveting
Revisado: 06-05-19
This is the story of two girls who help each other get through a tough time in high school. Each of them have emotionally hard family situations. Their connection, where they can tell each other anything helps bring them together.
They create a wonderfullly fanciful world together where they can escape their tough situations together.
I give the story 4 starts instead of 5 just because I really wanted an HEA ending. It was happy, but still not what I was looking for.
