A masterfully written and read brief history from a European perspective. I appreciated the way the author explained how major events such as the industrial revelation impacted the development of European culture.

I would recommend for those who wish to understand how WWI accelerated the research and development of aircraft as well as the extreme risks taken by the pilots.

Loved it. It seems the US used the same imperial methods to achieve it's objectives as Egland, Spain, Germany, France etc. All used brutal methods to crush dissent. The US apparently crushed dissent when it's economic interests or the interests of it's corporation were at stake. An interesting perspective on foreign policy.

Rather than the just being focused on Trump -bashing, the book shows some balance. The patterns are disturbing. However, the author points out intelligence services are trained to undermine people’s confidence in their countries political processes.

A excellent telling of the personal, historical, political, and diplomatic forces that lead to, worked during, and operated after WW I.

William Hazelgrove does a extraordinary job of placing Woodrow Wilson and Edith Wilson within the context of their times. He also brings out their personalities as well as their devotion to each other. It was Edith’s devotion to Woodrow which caused her to conceal the full extent of his disability from the public and allowed her to assume the ”stewardship” of the presidency while she waited for his recovery. Likewise Burnadette Dunne’s narration was masterful.

The story covers some of the early presidents frustration and dealings with the press. It goes into more detail about how the presidents from FDR forward have sought to work with and manipulate the press, and when the press has allowed itself to be manipulated in order to either protect the image of the president, or maintain access. The narrator is also excellent.

The author does a wonderful job of explaining how the participants saw the world given their history of living through WWI and the failure of the league of nations. He also explains what they thought while the conference was in progress as well as the strategic reasons for leaving many critical issues unaddressed.
