I did not like this book as much as Midnight Library. It was too woo-woo for me. I'm sure many will like it but it's just not my cup of tea.

It’s no wonder that The Power of Now has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 foreign languages. Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces listeners to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind.

Unexpected
Revisado: 01-16-25
I love a book that isn't predictable, that has quirky or interesting characters and opens your mind to new ways of seeing the world. This book hit all of those notes for me. I would have liked it to go on longer and finish out some storylines, but you can't have everything.

Complex and Intriguing
Revisado: 09-13-24
I really liked the very convoluted story being unwound and laid out little by little. Each little piece by itself didn't make any sense but as the details started to build up, slowly the full story started emerging. I really enjoyed the complexity of the story as well as the very well defined characters.

Historia
A novel written by Ellie’s first love, Jack Bennett, tells the story of a young man and woman who meet at the water’s edge and fall madly in love, only to have their romance cut short by forces beyond their control. Ellie quickly realizes this is no ordinary story; it’s their story. Captivated by Jack’s words, she immerses herself in the pages, reliving the adventures they shared that magical summer. To her astonishment, hidden among the tales of star-gazing and stolen kisses is a detail that has her questioning everything.

Time Period Issues
Revisado: 08-28-24
I don't have issues suspending reality for fantasy or science fiction or even for romance novels, but this book was in none of those and as a woman with a PhD I know how hard women have had it being accepted in academia. This book was set in the 1950's and there's no mention of the societal pressures on a woman to conform and be a wife. Ellie wanted to have a career and to have a man follow her to where she went for her job. The lack of any impediments in her career is totally unrealistic. This book is definitely written by a male author.

Solid story
Revisado: 06-05-24
This book was ok. The story was very straightforward, no surprises, no build up or tension. It's like a slow summer afternoon. But I have to say, if your life is hectic and your looking for a slower more calm book, this will do the trick.

very touching story
Revisado: 04-22-24
I was really able to relate to so much in this book. I have experienced an abusive relationship, dealt with loss and grief and have had trauma change my entire life. I understood what many of the characters were going through and it helped give me different perspectives on being in this place in my life. It was well written and purposeful, I really enjoyed it.

Creepy Good
Revisado: 04-11-24
I usually don't read thrillers but the story sounded really interesting so I took a chance. The book did not disappoint. It was interesting watching Alix step into the proverbial pot of water that heats up so slowly you don't realize it until it's boiling. The twists and turns do not disappoint!

Historia
Rare-book dealer Ashlyn Greer’s affinity for books extends beyond the intoxicating scent of old paper, ink, and leather. She can feel the echoes of the books’ previous owners—an emotional fingerprint only she can read. When Ashlyn discovers a pair of beautifully bound volumes that appear to have never been published, her gift quickly becomes an obsession. Not only is each inscribed with a startling incrimination, but the authors, Hemi and Belle, tell conflicting sides of a tragic romance.

Great Storyline
Revisado: 01-29-24
This story takes you on a trip back in time to hear a tale of lost love. Who knew a long lost set of books could impact so many lives? The author did a great job playing with the idea of redemption and second chances.

Didn't See That Coming
Revisado: 12-05-23
I got this book because I saw that Liane Moriarty recommended it, and I love her books. This story about a very complicated set of circumstances and relationships had me surprised more than usual. So many twists and turns kept me intrigued and wondering what the heck was going on. It's not a light read and deals alot with death and loss, so reader beware. This complicated tale and strong characters make it a great read. My only small complaint would be there terrible American accent by the narrator.

Very Enjoyable
Revisado: 11-17-23
This was a very entertaining book! I laughed out loud more than usually do when listening to books. Kitty was just a very funny young woman and she had me in stitches quite often. This book is a "light read", romcom with a very engaging story. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to boost their spirits.
