Very moving story
Revisado: 12-27-22
Once into the story I couldn’t put it down. Heartbreaking at times, but such endearing relationships and such strong people. Great to know that he went on to complete college & also is a published poet. I must read his poetry book now!

Historia
In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

Really enjoyed hearing this author's journey. I have never liked alcohol, but I can relate to the ither addictions: shopping and eating. I started getting rid of clothes before I even finished reading!

Historia
Phoebe McFarland has just moved back to her hometown of White Oak, Tennessee, a sleepy rural community nestled in the mist-shrouded ridges and isolated hollows of the Smoky Mountains. Now she spends her days working as a rural home health care nurse, making calls on a quirky roster of housebound characters she's determined to take care of whether they cooperate or not. She applies this same optimism to her love life, despite the fact that she's been dating for 38 years without locating any husband material.

Just bought this and started it. Made it to 5th chapter, painfully, as I just cannot tolerate this narrator. I will read the Kindle instead.

Wish it were longer!
Revisado: 02-06-18
If you could sum up The Book Case in three words, what would they be?
Best of John Corey
What did you like best about this story?
How he figured out the "who dunnit?"
Which scene was your favorite?
When he announced the victim was not dead.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No
Any additional comments?
Only wish there were many more books about John Corey. I have almost read all of the DeMille books. Really great author. (But don't get the "bighead", DeMille!)

First part good, last part too bizarre
Revisado: 08-22-16
What did you like best about Fall From Grace? What did you like least?
I enjoyed the first section; then the part where the perpetrator becomes obvious was just too unbelievable
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
have a different ending
Any additional comments?
If all the Jane Candiotti books have endings such as this, I will not read more.

SOOOO BORING! I GIVE UP!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the story were more interesting
Has Girl Waits with Gun turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
What three words best describe Christina Moore’s performance?
It was okay
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Girl Waits with Gun?
Too many to count

This was sooo boring. I kept going back to it, then reading the positive comments & going back again. I finally admit, I just cannot get interested in this book. I can usually at least finish, but his is definitely not worth my time.

Historia
There are, in the United States, a significant and growing number of families who live on less than $2.00 per person, per day. That figure, the World Bank measure of poverty, is hard to imagine in this country - most of us spend more than that before we get to work or school in the morning.

Got bored midway
Revisado: 07-29-16
Would you try another book from Kathryn Edin and H. Luke Shaefer and/or Allyson Johnson?
Probably not.
Do you think $2.00 a Day needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
There was enough information midway through the book. I lost interest after that. Good facts but too much.
Any additional comments?
Couldn't force myself to finish it.

Sorry I wasted my time & money
Revisado: 07-17-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Mainly, the narrator. This was the worst narration I think I have ever heard. Really ridiculous.
What was most disappointing about M. Louisa Locke’s story?
the person who read it
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her use of different inflections for the different characters just did not play out well at all. None of them was good.
Any additional comments?
I eventually was able to get interested enough to want to figure out whodunit. That is all that kept me with this book. I would never read any others by this author, and absolutely NEVER EVER listen to this narrator again.
