5 Swoon Worthy Stars!
Revisado: 05-03-22
The Heart of Us is Book 4 in Kennedy Fox’s Love in Isolation Series. Narrated by Andi Ardnt and Tor Thom. If you read/listened to Book 3, The End Of Us, this Book is Tristan’s brother Easton’s story. It’s a forced proximity, reverse age-gap, boss/employee, friends to lovers romantic suspense.
Tatum Nicholas is on the run from an abusive ex. She finds herself in Florida where Easton Belvadier hires her to work at the Surf Shop he owns and also rents her the apartment across from his over his shop.
Easton Belvadier has had a thing for his employee, Tatum, since the day she showed up at his shop asking for a job and needing a place to live. The fact that she’s 9 years his senior makes no difference to him. In fact, he’s always had a thing for older women. He could tell she had been going through something and felt this innate need to help and protect her.
When her ex shows up looking for Tatum and she asks him to lie regarding her whereabouts, he does so without hesitation. And when that same night someone sets his shop and their apartments above on fire, Easton and Tatum head to his family’s beach house to hide out until it’s safe to return home. While living in close quarters, their easy going friendship becomes something so much more.
The chemistry between these two in undeniable. I would consider this one to be a slow burn but so well worth the wait. Let me just say: Easton, gah, that man is swoon worthy. He was so patient with Tatum, taking everything at a pace she was comfortable with — all while offering the support, encouragement, and confidence boost that she needed. That man knew what he wanted from the very beginning and he brought his A game. As is the case with most KF novels, they brought the perfect amount of suspense to keep you on your toes. I look forward to reading/listening to the next book in the Love In Isolation Series.
When it comes to the narration, Andi Ardnt and Tor Thom were an excellent duo that complimented each other well. They did an amazing job portraying Easton and Tatum’s characters to life.

Catherine Cowles at her best! 5 Little Daredevil Stars!
Revisado: 04-12-22
Falling Embers is Book 2 in The Tattered and Torn Series by Catherine Cowles. Narrated by the talented duo Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin.
Hadley Easton is the oldest Easton daughter and second youngest Easton child. She was perhaps the most affected after her sister Shiloh’s kidnapping. Her mother’s fear was suffocating to her, she felt she was always trapped in a bubble and never able to be the real her. That is—until her brother’s best friend, Calder, showed her what it felt like to be free, to chase the stars. So started Hadley’s love for adventure and adrenaline.
Calder Cruz is a firefighter and single dad to two adorable 9 year old twin girls. He’s always been an honorary member of the Easton family. Although he once sought adrenaline highs with Hadley—after almost losing his girls in a tragic accident he no longer thought he had to luxury to be so reckless with Hadley so he started to distance himself from her.
Fast forward four years later, Calder and Hadley’s friendship is strained at best. Though it’s never affected Hadley’s relationship with the girls—apart from Calder, Hadley was the biggest constant in their lives. After a few close calls that put Hadley’s safety in jeopardy, Calder realizes just how truly empty his life would be if he lost Hadley.
I absolutely adored these two and the depth behind their characters. I devoured their story from start to finish. They had everything working against them from the start, but they somehow found love amidst a crazy stalker, the return of an ex, and at the height of family drama.
This small-town brother’s best friend romance has just the right combination of heat, angst, and suspense. Guaranteed to clutch your heart strings one second and leave you gasping the next. Falling Embers is Catherine Cowles at her best!
🎧 Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin are one of my favorite narrator duos. They are both incredibly easy to listen to. Joe and Vanessa brought both Calder and Hadley’s characters to life seamlessly, I could literally feel their emotions through audio. Absolutely phenomenal narration!

Absolutely Loved Tristan and Piper!
Revisado: 03-29-22
The End of Us is Book 3 in the Love in Isolation Series by Kennedy Fox narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Ardnt.
Piper Montgomery is a 21 year old blogger/social media influencer that was born into Manhattan royalty. When Piper finds herself the object of a stalker’s obsession, her father hires a bodyguard to keep Piper safe. Enter Piper’s new bodyguard, Tristan Belvedere, former military turned private security and 16 years Piper’s senior.
When Piper’s stalker escalates to an attack, Tristan and Piper go off grid until he’s caught. While Piper has always been intrigued by her quiet, brooding bodyguard, Tristan’s impression of Piper was less than favorable. He had seen Piper as a spoiled princess—that is until their forced proximity allows him to see beneath the Piper Montgomery persona she puts on for the world.
The more time these two spend together
the harder it becomes for Tristan to resist the pull between them but Piper is determined to get Tristan to open up. Once they cross that line these two have so much to overcome to make their relationship work—a 16 year age gap, Tristan being employed by Piper’s father, and not to mention a crazy stalker on the loose determined to make Piper his.
There’s so much more to the two of them than meets the eye. I absolutely loved this pair and seeing them evolve and grow not only as a couple but as individuals as well. They are the classic definition of opposites attract— a pair you wouldn’t think goes together but somehow they just fit. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and they bring out the best in one another.
I knew going in that I was going to love this book because it’s all of my favorite tropes rolled up in one (forbidden, age gap, forced proximity) but y’all Tristan and Piper’s story is so well written—full of banter, emotion, and suspense. The End of Us is the best of KF.
Of course, you can NEVER go wrong with a narrator duo like Sebastian York and Andi Ardnt. They nailed Piper and Tristan and brought these characters to life!
I will note this was the first book that I’ve read/listened to in this series and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything not having read/listened to the previous books. I will, however, be going back to listen to them now!

I never imagined my new roommate would be the man I’d actually fall for. Though I don’t get close to the people I sleep with, he’s been my exception. Archer acts emotionally unavailable while he focuses on starting over, but our connection is too strong to ignore. He’s rugged on the outside and sweet on the inside - the opposite of my usual type. I see the way his eyes gaze up and down my body, making it harder to keep my feelings in check. Knocking down his walls is no easy task, especially with my brother interfering, but I refuse to give up.

Revisado: 02-18-22
Wanting You Close is Book 2 in Archer & Everleigh’s Duet in Kennedy Fox’s Lawton Ridge Duet Series. It picks up right where the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers in Forcing You Away left off.
It’s so hard to review this one without being spoilery so I’ll just say this: KF knows how to write suspense, and they really packed a punch with this duet. Archer and Everleigh’s HEA is hard fought and well deserved. This couple endures so much in such a short time span and their relationship only strengthens through each obstacle they overcome. You’ll be rooting for these two until the very end.
Tor and Lia nailed Archer and Everleigh’s characters in their narrations and truly did an amazing job bringing this couple to life.

5 Slow Burn Stars
Revisado: 01-11-22
Forcing You Away is Book 1 in Archer and Everleigh’s Duet in the Ex-Con Duet Series by Kennedy Fox.
If you’ve read any of the previous duets then you’ve already met Tyler’s sister, Everleigh. Everleigh is an independent spitfire with a heart of gold who knows how to have fun and live life to fullest. She’s one of those people you meet and instantly want to be best friends with. What you see is what you get with Everleigh.
Archer was Everleigh’s brother’s cellmate in prison. Knowing how hard it was to start over after recently being released from prison himself—Tyler offers Archer a job at his new gym and a place to stay with Everleigh until he’s able to get back on his feet. Archer is Everleigh’s opposite in many ways. He’s quiet and reserved, the introvert to Everleigh’s extravert. They balanced each other out so perfectly.
Though Tyler had warned both Archer and Everleigh away from each other—these two were drawn to each other from the very start. Neither had much experience in the relationship department. Archer wasn’t sure he could handle Everleigh and he was certain that she deserved better than an ex con. Not to mention the fact he didn’t went to disrespect Tyler. Everleigh had always been content with hookups and settling down had never crossed her mind.
What began as friendship between these two slowly and surely grew to something more. Resisting each other became harder each day as they spent more time together. It’s turns out Archer and Everleigh had more to overcome than their relationship inexperience and Tyler’s warnings because someone from the past is lurking in the shadows and they’re intent these two never get their chance at a happily ever after. Prepare yourself for the cliffhanger at the end of Book 1 because boy is it a doozy.
Although Forcing You Away was a slower burn than usual for Kennedy Fox, the duo more than made up for it with witty banter and sexual tension you could cut with a knife. I absolutely loved these two and how completely opposite they were but how utterly perfect they were together. I’m so eager to continue their story in the next book in Archer and Everleigh’s Duet, Wanting You Close.
As they have in the previous duets in the Ex Con Duet Series, Tor Thom and Lia Langola did a fantastic job bringing Archer and Everleigh’s story to life. I’m never disappointed when this pair is narrating together.

5 “UNPUTDOWNABLE” STARS!
Revisado: 09-25-21
Beneath the Wreckage is Book 5 in The Wrecked Series by Catherine Cowles. It can be read as a standalone but I promise you, you’re missing out if you don’t read the whole series!
Piper is back on Anchor Island a decade after tragedy struck while vacationing at Whispering Falls with her best friend, Jenn and their families. Owning Whispering Falls had been something Piper and Jenn had dreamed about while spending their summers there every year since they were little girls. So, when the lodge goes up for sale Piper sees the perfect opportunity to make their dream come true and honor Jenn’s memory.
If you’ve read any of the previous books in The Wrecked Series you’ve already met our beloved Hunter. He’s the owner of Hardy Construction, the company tasked with renovating Whispering Falls. From the moment they first met, Hunter and Piper had this inexplicable connection, almost as if their broken souls recognized a kindred spirit.
They both resisted their connection at first for different reasons. Hunter because he doesn’t date clients and Piper because she held everyone at arms length, scared to lose someone she loves again. The pull between the two grows stronger the more time they spend together until their walls of resistance crumble and they are unable to deny their feelings for each other any longer.
Hunter and Piper’s bond continues to strengthen as they renovate Whispering Falls together and work toward making peace with the bad memories held there for each of them. They’re finally moving forward—together. Only it seems someone doesn’t want Whispering Falls to re-open and they are determined to drive Piper out of Anchor Island by any means necessary.
I absolutely loved Hunter and his selflessness in the previous books in this series and Beneath the Wreckage was no different. He’d do anything and everything to keep Piper safe, we all could use a man like Hunter in our lives. Also, can I just add that I love the bond that developed between Hunter and Piper’s dog, Bruno. He stole my heart from his first tongue lull.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is no book that Catherine Cowles could ever write that I would ever regret reading. I was drawn in from page one and emotionally invested to the very last page. Her ability to perfectly balance a storyline with the right amount of suspense and romance is like no other.
I listened to the audio version and Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke were the perfect narrators for Piper and Hunter, they did an amazing job bringing this book and their main characters to life.

Revisado: 07-31-21
Beautifully Broken Pieces is Book 1 in the Sutter Lake Series. A small town romance with the perfect balance of mystery, suspense, emotion, and heat. Taylor recently lost her mother after caring for her the past couple of years throughout her sickness. Thinking Taylor needed to get away for a little while, Taylor’s friends plan a vacation to Sutter Lake. Needing a change of scenery and thinking the fresh air will do her some good, Taylor decides to make Sutter Lake her home for the next year.
Walker, Sutter Lake’s deputy sheriff, is no stranger to pain and loss—so it’s no surprise he’s able to see both reflected in Taylor’s eyes the first time he meets her. Walker can’t help but be drawn to Taylor, even though he resists at first. He eventually gives into the chemistry between but Walker knows he’s got his got his work cut out for him when it comes to breaking down Taylor’s walls and defenses.
Just when Walker has those walls crumbling down, tragedy strikes the normally quiet town of Sutter Lakes. It seems Taylor pulling away may not be the greatest challenge Walker is facing, not when there’s a serial killer on the loose and she just might be caught in their crosshairs.
Narrators can make or break an audio for me. Aaron Shedlock and Maxine Mitchell did not disappoint. They did an excellent job bringing both Walker and Taylor’s characters to life.
This book was the first I had read by Catherine Cowles and I immediately fell in love with her writing style. I was blown away when I discovered this was only her second published novel. I’ve since read all of her subsequent books and am now working my way through the audio versions. I must say even after reading every other book she’s written this is still one of my absolute favorites.
Catherine Cowles is an author I will one-click time and time again. Zero hesitation. I don’t even have to read the blurb. I don’t say that lightly as I read/listen to 200+ books a year and there are only 2 other authors that fall in that category for me. I can confidently say there is no book Cowles could ever write that I would regret reading.

Perfect conclusion to this duet and series!
Revisado: 07-27-21
This is Beautiful is the conclusion to Logan and Kayla’s duet and the sixth and final book in the Checkmate Series. It picks up right where This is Dangerous left off: Kayla waking up from a medically induced coma after a head injury with no memories of the last two years—or Logan.
After finding out that Kayla had been in a relationship with Logan before her accident Kayla feels like she owes it to both Logan and herself to give their relationship a do-over. Kayla’s heart and mind are at war though and it doesn’t go unnoticed by Logan, who can feel her holding him at arms length. Throw in some suspense and an ex that won’t quit and you’ve got Kennedy Fox’s signature recipe for a 5 star read.
Logan has to be my favorite main character of this series. I feel like Logan showed the most growth as an individual and partner. He went from closed off and determined to avoid relationships at all cost to in love, no holds barred. When Logan loves, boy does he love—HARD. And Lia Langola captured every ounce of emotion for Logan so perfectly. This was her best narration of the series in my opinion.
Although I’m sad to say goodbye to the three Checkmate Series Duet couples, I can’t wait to see what else Kennedy Fox has in store for us!

Logan Knight is a real life knight in shining armor. A detective godsend in a sleek black suit has me thinking less than secretive thoughts. Brooding and mysterious, he's the kind of guy every girl instantly notices. Between his seductive smirk and charming good looks, it's no wonder I can't help the way he makes me feel whenever I'm near him. Too bad he's unavailable - or so he says. He thinks I'm a do-gooder who shouldn't get involved with a guy like him. His past is messy, and his relationships just add to that.

Dogs, Donuts, and a Knight in shining armor
Revisado: 07-19-21
This is Dangerous is Book 1 of Logan and Kayla’s duet. I’ve been waiting for their story since they met in Travis and Viola’s duet. Logan is a mysterious, brooding detective and single father. Kayla is an interior designer and dog lover/rescuer who grew up in the foster system. She devotes all of her spare time to helping those in need—both animals and humans.
Kayla is not one to shy away from her feelings and makes it known that she wants more than friendship with Logan. Logan, on the other hand, is full of excuses to as why he can’t date Kayla. The timing isn’t right. He’s focused on his career. In actuality, Logan thinks Kayla deserves better than him, someone who can devote all of their time and attention to her.
After continuously trying to break down Logan’s walls, Kayla decides that if she’s ever going to get over her feelings for Logan that she needs to start dating. This turns out to be just the push Logan needs to stop resisting his attraction to Kayla. Though he’s scared to let anyone in after his past he knows a good thing when it’s right in front of him so he’s determined to juggle a demanding career, single fatherhood, and a new relationship.
There are a few skeletons in both Logan and Kayla’s past so I’m interested to see how everything plays out in the second book of their duet. Without giving too much away, this does end in a cliffhanger. And boy is it a doozy. You’ll definitely want to have Book 2, This is Beautiful, ready to devour.
Lia Langola has been spot on narrating this entire series. She has adapted her voice to fit each character in this series perfectly including Logan and Kayla. She was able to inflect Kayla’s sweetness and Logan’s gruffness into her narration seamlessly.

Revisado: 07-15-21
Let me just preface this review by saying I literally devoured this audio in less than half a day. It was that good. The ending of Book 1, This is Reckless left me scrambling for the next book. Seriously, I could not get my hands on This is Effortless fast enough.
Over the course of This is Effortless, Mia continues to play games with Drew and Courtney’s relationship. Watching them face every obstacle thrown their way and seeing them coming out all that much stronger in the end gave me all the feels.
And can I just say how much I love these two together? Her crazy compliments his calm so well. They are opposites in many ways but together they just make sense. They have such a fun and playful relationship. Literal relationship goals.
Drew is the definition of a book boyfriend. His love for Courtney shines so bright throughout this book. He makes it well known that Courtney is numero uno and he will go to the ends of the earth for her safety and happiness.
This is Effortless has been my favorite book of the Checkmate Duet series thus far and I’m so excited to continue this series with Logan and Kayla’s Duet.
Lia Langola’s narration was (again) spot on for both Drew and Courtney’s characters.
