Historia
Carla Andrews and Lorraine West are work colleagues and best friends. They socialise together, they work in the same bookmakers and they support each other as only best friends can. Then they are murdered together. When DI Tom Fowler is handed the case, he discovers a journal that Carla has left and must unpick the secrets Lorraine has kept hidden. Soon Carla’s and Lorraine’s husbands become the main suspects. It’s usually the spouse who is responsible, isn’t it? The investigation progresses until Isaac West, Lorraine’s 16-year-old son, disappears.

Historia
After 18 years of marriage, Kathy Walker has settled into a pattern of comfortable routines-ferrying her two teenagers between soccer practice and piano lessons, running a film production business with her husband, Robert, and taking care of the beautiful Boston home they share. Then one day, Kathy discovers a suspicious number on her husband's phone. Six years before, Kathy accused Robert of infidelity - a charge he vehemently denied - and almost destroyed their marriage in the process. Now Kathy must decide whether to follow her suspicions and risk of losing everything, or to trust.

Groundhog Day
Revisado: 03-24-25
What a collection of self centered unattractive characters participating in a Groundhog Day word for word repetition times three of a very ordinary and corny domestic soap opera. I usually get suggestions for mysteries and somehow this showed up in my list of must reads - obviously an AI mistake

No resemblance
Revisado: 03-15-25
No resemblance to any of the previous Modglin reads / listens. The dialog was embarrassingly vapid, the characters shallow, and the story a hodgepodge of bits and pieces going nowhere. To make it even more painful the performances were over the top dramatic and annoying. I usually love this author’s work so I hung in there till the bitter disappointing end.

Melodramatic
Revisado: 01-11-25
At first I believed it was only the narrator’s over the top melodramatic interpretation but eventually realized it was also the story and the throughly unlikable characters that added to this very bad audiobook.

Historia
To anyone on their flight out of New York, they appear to be five best friends excited for a destination wedding in Miami. No one would guess that each of them has a reason to want the groom dead. Trevor Vaughn, the groom in question, wooed his bride-to-be by first becoming close with her friends—which is to say that he learned all of the five’s darkest, most dangerous secrets and blackmailed them into convincing Fiona to say “I do”. The friends were forced to convince a doubting Fiona to go through with the wedding, no matter what, and now the charade is set to continue.

Revisado: 12-26-24
A collection of privileged nasty selfish immoral characters. Some suspense and a twist or two, but without even one person to care about and many undeserving of a good outcome disappointment reigns.

The Third Body?
Revisado: 06-16-24
Interesting plot and character development. Though a little predictable still compelling. A few unanswered questions one in particular which editing should have picked up.

About the Characters
Revisado: 06-03-24
Chock full of detestable characters playing in a silly unbelievable and annoying plot. Not one person to care about and nothing to be compelled to invest in. I can’t believe I committed to the entire trilogy. Oh and a terrible ending in book 3 “ the last one to lie” - not worth the time it took to get there.

Everything but the end
Revisado: 03-06-24
I so enjoyed the performance, the characters, the plot, however, though the end twist is fun, I wish it had continued to a more satisfying conclusion. Perhaps B.A.Paris will provide us a sequel that has a better ending

Historia
On the day author Mari Morgan receives the email, she has little left to live for. The message—simple yet utterly life-changing—offers a glimmer of hope to her dismal existence. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, and if she takes it, it could change everything. Mari’s immediate sense of unease is eclipsed only by her curiosity—elicited from the supposed fan on the other end of the email. Unsatisfied despite doing her due diligence, and with no way to discern the legitimacy of the sender, Mari takes a leap of faith and replies.
