Will it ever end??
Revisado: 06-02-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I know that the subject is a hard one, but oh my land............I kept wondering how long this book would continue on. I actually could not finish it even though I wanted to know what happened to the characters. Just had to stop listening.
What could Bryce Courtenay have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not truelly sure. I think there was too much time spent on the subject of the book and not enough on the story line.
Have you listened to any of Humphrey Bower’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have and I have loved them. That was the reason I was looking forward to this book. But it was just too harsh and too much and way too long.
Did The Persimmon Tree inspire you to do anything?
Stop listening. I know that sounds harsh......but I'm being truthful.
Any additional comments?
Don't listen unless you are ready to go into a world not necessary.

This is a GREAT BOOK!! Makes one think!
Revisado: 06-02-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I loved this book and yes, I have made the recommendation that my friends read/listen to this book. It makes one think very hard about how one moment in your life can change everything and how you think about everything. It just made me reflect in a way I never thought about. A fictional book. Well done.
What other book might you compare What Alice Forgot to and why?
Because of the humor, the making you think, and the monologues, it reminded me of WHERE'D YOU GO BERNADETTE.
Which character – as performed by Tamara Lovatt-Smith – was your favorite?
All of them. I was amazed with her performance.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
One moment in time can change everything. Everything can change in one moment.
Any additional comments?
I've listened to this book twice just to be sure I don't forget to appreciate those folks I have in my life.

After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Oh my land.............best book EVER!!
Revisado: 06-02-15
Would you listen to The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared again? Why?
Yes, I would and MUST listen to it again. One because I laughed so hard the first time, I look forward to doing that again. And next, I kinda want to check out the history information just to see if anything matches to the fictional information. Just curious.
What other book might you compare The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared to and why?
Nothing off the top of my head.
What about Steven Crossley’s performance did you like?
Oh my land!! Crossley is incredible!! I would forget that only one person was reading this book. He did a great job with all the accents and kept me plugged in way past my bedtime.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did have extreme reactions!! I LOVED IT!! I laughed a lot and totally fell in love with the main character and all the crazy things that happened to him. I hope to be 100 and have just as much fun as he did.

One of the best books EVER!!
Revisado: 06-02-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I loved this book and have already recommended it to many people. First off because of the clarity of all the history and the clarity of racing boats that I knew nothing about. I loved the great description of each of the team members, the coaches and the narrator was fantastic!!
What other book might you compare The Boys in the Boat to and why?
Brother Fish by Bryce Courtney. I loved books that give accurate history and explain it clearly enough to not get confused. Brown does that well in Boys in the Boat.
Have you listened to any of Edward Herrmann’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I definitely will be looking for others narrated by this man.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Young men with nothing more than the desire to do their best, do their best for themselves, their family, their country, but mostly for each other.
Any additional comments?
I thought I would be bored to death, but was so surprised to learn so much about our nation at the time this book was written about. Enjoyable!!

Historia
A mesmerizing, moving, and elegantly written debut novel, The Language of Flowers beautifully weaves past and present, creating a vivid portrait of an unforgettable woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own troubled past. The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it's been more useful in communicating grief, mistrust, and solitude.
