Slow to start but worth the ending
Revisado: 01-18-25
i had hard time getting into the story in the first half as it jumped between different threads but then really enjoyed it as I started to understand how they were coming together. The narration did not differentiate between characters very well at all.

Historia
I love him. And I’m pretty sure he loves me back...even though he’s straight. When I first met Carter King, I knew he was something special. I imagined us being together, and we are, but only as friends. Best friends! I’m trying to be cool with that, even though I know he has secrets, and there have definitely been mixed signals. I don’t want a crush to ruin what we already have. Then again, if there’s any chance that we can be together, it’s worth the risk, because Carter could be the love of my life. Or he might be the boy who breaks my heart.

Interesting story if a little unbelievable
Revisado: 01-02-25
i enjoyed the story and it went a direction I didn't expect. I had a difficult time believing how the two main characters relationship became so strong in such a short time but I enjoyed listening to it anyway and have me feels when I think about my own adolescence. The narration was excellent.

Historia
Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju, are best friends who come from very different backgrounds. When they are old enough, they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective, led by Young-sook’s mother. As the girls take up their positions as baby divers, they know they are beginning a life of excitement and responsibility but also danger. This beautiful, thoughtful novel illuminates a world turned upside down, one where the women are in charge, engaging in dangerous, physical work, and the men take care of the children.

Difficult but rewarding read
Revisado: 11-08-24
The story was difficult for me to get through at times. I had a hard time connecting with the main character and at times found the main character unlikable to me. In the end though I think it was a good story and a good moral lesson and I'm glad I finished it.

Fun action packed story
Revisado: 10-24-24
This is my favorite book of the series so far. The story was placed well and balanced with the world building. I enjoyed the many new characters introduced. The villain was a little too two dimensional for me and some of the religious undertones were awkward but those are minor complaints.

Historia
Twenty years ago, monsters rose on earth and began a new age of civilization. One where humans live in military-controlled, cramped and dirty cities along the coasts, and the majority of the United States is known as the Wastes. A lawless, desolate and dangerous place, teeming with monsters that have claimed the land for their own. Including Wyn the Soul Eater. He appears every three years, making his way across the country and slaughtering humans randomly, sucking them dry until they’re nothing but husks.

Good premise, turned into smut
Revisado: 10-15-24
I really liked the first half of this story but had to skip forward through much of the second half because it was just graphic sex. I like erotica but that isn't what I was expecting from this book. I was hoping for a plot and really loved the world the book was building at first but then the plot was pretty much left to the side once the romance got into full swing.

Gay religious teen
Revisado: 02-24-24
I wanted to like this book and liked the premise. As someone who grew up as extremely religious and gay I was really hoping that this story would speak to me. unfortunately the main character was way too whiny and inconsistent for me. In one sentence he is committing to his god that he won't act on his gay urges and in the very next sentence he is professing his love for Marcos. That happens several times and we never get to see any of the intellectual struggle that Milo is having to jump from one extreme to the next. The narrator was not good at creating distinct voices for each of the characters.

Historia
Hollywood is full of dirty secrets, but Carter refuses to be Levi's. Retired action star Levi Pritchard has made a quiet life for himself in the sleepy logging town of Bluewater Bay, Washington. But then Hollywood comes to film the wildly popular television series Wolf's Landing, and Bluewater Bay isn't so sleepy anymore. His retirement doesn't stick, either, because he's offered a part on the show - exactly the kind of complex role he'd always wanted, one that would prove him more than a glorified stuntman. The only catch? He has to stay in the closet.
