A True Leader
Revisado: 02-06-19
I could not believe how many times I found myself in tears while listening to this book. Tears of Joy and tears of sorrow. Missing a true leader to look up to who genuinely had our best interest at heart.

Historia
In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.

Historia
After undergoing gall bladder surgery at age 23, Jennette Fulda decided it was time to lose some weight. Actually, more like half her weight. At the time, Jennette weighed 372 pounds. Jennette was not born fat. But, by fifth grade, her response to a school questionnaire asking What would you change about your appearance? was "I would be thinner.” Sound familiar? Half-Assed is the captivating and incredibly honest story of Jennette’s journey to get in shape, lose weight, and change her life.

Authors need to read their own memoirs!!!
Revisado: 06-11-18
I wanted this book to be so much more than what it was. The potential was there for sure. The problem with this book is in the narration. It should have been read by the author. The author puts the emotion behind the words. This narrator did not at all. I honestly think the author’s voice would have changed the whole book for me. I can tell she has a sense of humor, but the narrator did not do her humor any justice. Disappointing.

Beautiful!
Revisado: 07-19-17
What an extraordinary description of a child's progression of addiction. I found myself thinking about this book all throughout the day. I have a 6 year old and 3 year old and I kept wondering how I would handle the situation if it was me in their future. It terrifies me. I felt for the Mom's heartbreak and I felt for the daughter at the same time. It was honest. It was genuine. It was beautifully written.

My only disappointment is that I'd like to have Shannon read it. I think Bio/Memoirs are so much better when the author reads it! You feel more of their emotion in their voice.

On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill 12 students and a teacher and wound 24 others before taking their own lives. For the last 16 years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong?

Before you judge!
Revisado: 04-10-16
What I've learned after listening to this is that "thou shall not judge". I can remember when this tragedy happened and I remember hearing many people saying exactly this, "how could those parents not know? It's their fault". I remember thinking to my 21 year old self, "maybe they just didn't know. I know my parents didn't know everything I was up to in high school". It is so unbelievably heart breaking what Sue and her family went through and still continues to go through today because a choice her SON made, NOT her. Why are we so quick to blame? This book is beautiful written. At times I did feel as though she was apologizing again and again to everyone. It made me sad that she still continues to do this. This is a very insightful perspective to the other side of Columbine. One we haven't heard before. Thank you for sharing Sue. It took a lot of bravery and I pray it helps your journey and healing.
