Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Phenomenol window into the German perspective
Revisado: 03-22-21
I encounter between the two pilots was incredible, but while that was what initially drew me in, it was not the part I loved the most. This book gives a heartbreaking account of what it means to be an officer in Nazi Germany. Franz Stigler's story gives a snapshot of numerous officers who hated the regime but loved their country. This book provides a perfect combination of honor, bravery, and tragic sacrifice that is only compounded because you know that they lose the war. It's a story about the journey Stigler goes through where he turns from a man seeking vengeance to someone who knows better. Every life lost is a punch to the gut. I would highly recommend this story to anyone interested in WW2

Historia
Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches. In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. Then, lacking any formal education, Tara began to educate herself. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge.

Historia
Eve looks like an ordinary 12-year-old girl, but there’s nothing ordinary about her. She has no last name. No parents or guardian. She’s on the run from a dangerous and secretive organization that will stop at nothing to track her down. And most astonishing of all: she’s a robot, a product of Eden Laboratories. When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she’s ever known.

Amazing
Revisado: 01-22-20
I didn’t expect much at first since it was an Audible original, but it is so good. I enjoyed the story as well as the interesting questions it raises about AI technology, even though the representation was slightly off (Eve finds some things tricky that aren’t for even AI that exist today, but finds other skills easy when current researchers are struggling to get their AI to do even remotely).

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.
