King Midas made me the woman I am today. Notorious. Unattainable. His. The thing about being confined is that you believe it's to keep the bad out...Until you realize it's about keeping you in. I'm now in a strange kingdom surrounded by liars, with no allies of my own, but I won't sit idly by and let myself wither. No, something's bloomed from the pit of my repression. Something dark. Something angry.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice:🌶️🌶️ 🌶️
This series gets better with each book.
Raven Kennedy has done amazingly.
I continued listening to the series narrated by Lily Drake & Anthony Palmini and I’m glad I did. They really brought the characters to life especially Slade & Auren. I was so immersed in it.
The story starts off with Auren back at fifth kingdom with Midas. She’s confused with everything that is going on and is not able to trust anyone for a while.
The character growth is amazing as well. Auren has realized how wrong she was to think she loved Midas and realizes he has been using her since the very beginning. She starts standing up for herself and fighting back.
She is forced into planning an escape with Rissa but so many tricks happen that she couldn’t have seen. I also didn’t think I could hate Midas as much as I already did.
Slade is definitely my favorite in this too. He definitely redeemed himself. I also love the wrath team. (Also it get much more spicier than the other books)
They remind me of the close knit team in Acotar.
This series is perfect for Acotar & Blood and Ash fans.

Historia
For ten years, I lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas's golden castle. One night changed everything. Now I'm here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom's army, and I'm not sure if I'm going to make it out of this in one piece. They're marching to battle, and I'm the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war.

Anthony Palmini & Lily Drake are perfection
Revisado: 02-27-25
The second installment of The Plated Prisoners series by Raven Kennedy was absolutely amazing.
If you like Jennifer Armentrout, Sarah J Maas, Briar Boleyn, & K.F. Breene-then I highly suggest this series.
I listened to the audiobook with Lilly Drake & Anthony Palmini. They really brought the characters to life perfectly. I love the emotions in Lily Drake’s voice as she switches between Auren & Queen Malina.
The story continued from where Gild left off when Auren and the others were rescued by Fourth Kingdom. She is finally starting to realize that Midas isn’t who she thinks he is and is starting to learn how to use her ribbons to fight. (She is dealing with Stockholm Syndrome)
The story ends with Auren back with King Midas but a twist when Auren realizes the Commander & King Ravenger are the same person.
I also really liked the pov’s from not only Auren, but Queen Malina and Midas as well, however I do wish we would have gotten more Slade pov’s.
I can’t wait to start book 3.
Please remember to read the trigger warnings. This is an adult fantasy for 18+.

I’m still trying to realize how I feel about this book.
To me it was too short to be 4-5 stars with everything that was going on.The writing was great though. There was just too much going on for me. I will read the next book.
I like the whole alien/human thing and it got much better towards the end.
The audio was great

The Audio Was Absolutely Amazing
Revisado: 02-23-25
Audiobook: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
At first I wasn’t sure about the story because it started off really slow but it was worth it. I was so invested in learning more about Auren.
There are tons of secrets and they get more bigger towards the end. The question I have is what exactly is the fmc Auren?
Is she the way she is because of Midas? Does she have her own power? I also want to learn more of her story before she went with Midas.
At the end it is revealed she has the power to turn someone into gold-so is Midas just using her for his own power?
Onto book 2!
I listened to the audiobook and it was incredible. Lily Drake and Anthony Palmini are incredible voice actors. He really captured all the male characters really well especially the pirates, and I was able to easily distinguish who is who.
If you like Sarah j Maas, Briar Boleyn, & KF Breene, then you will like this story.
I do not recommend it for anyone under 18+ because it has many adult themes and trigger warnings.

Pucking Amazing!
Revisado: 01-15-25
I absolutely loved this audiobook!
It was narrated by Teddy Hamilton & Joe Arden. Talk about a star cast. They both brought the characters to life in a way that’s so compelling you don’t realize the story is over until it’s over.
The story follows Luca, who works security for a hockey team, and Max, the star defense player but Luca’s past may put them in danger.
These 2 are amazing and their story will definitely have you feeling all the emotions. At some points I just wanted to give Max a hug.
There is non stop drama, found family, angst, twists, and turns. Normally the security guard/bodyguard thing is overdone for my taste but My Pucking Crush was really good.
Some Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
Forced proximity
One bed
Mafia vibes

Team Oro or Team Grim?
Revisado: 12-18-24
I give this story a 4.5-5 ⭐️
Like the other first 2 book of the series I alternated in between the book and audiobook.
Suzy Jackson did a great job again, narrating each character. I’m glad that she’s the same narrator for each book because it makes it easier to under each character than getting used to a new voice in the same series.
Each book gets better in my opinion.
But what a way to end on a cliffhanger.
The sorry starts off right where Nightbane ended which I appreciated.
Now that Isla’s lost memories have been recovered, she is trying to settle into her new normal with Grim while still trying to do the right thing for her people. She has to make very tough decisions and deals with more lies and deceit from others.
There are major plot twists at every turn, more emotional turmoil, dead people coming back who are kind of dead but not really, and 2 very cute animal buddies.
Isla’s character development gets better as well as she finds out more about herself and what really happened to her parents and who they were, as well as what the rest of her powers are.
I noticed each book gets more suspenseful and darker especially towards the last half of them.
The last couple chapters alternates between Isla, Grim, and Oro’s pov. She still loves both of them and they both love her.
Now just to try and be patient until the fourth book comes out.

Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark’s seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven’t ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla’s midst who don’t believe her ascent to power was earned.

Revisado: 12-17-24
Wow! What a cliffhanger on book 2.
I switched between the audiobook and book. Suzy Jackson did a great job voicing all the characters and I was able to distinguish them pretty well.
First off Nightbane was much better than Lightlark in my opinion. I did like Lightlark because we as readers needed to understand the history and read about the Centennial.
But Nightbane was better to me because it continues from the royals trying to rebuild everything lost to the curse.
Isla Crown was a major force in ending the curses but is now dealing with the difficulties of recovering major lost memories that are needed, stopping an oncoming war, being the ruler her people need, and following her heart and brain for 2 men she loves but can’t get over the betrayal of one of them.
There are secrets at every turn, emotional turmoil, a love triangle, and a cute Lynx with a character of steel.
Can’t wait to read what happens next. Definitely Team Grim now but will that change? 🤔

The suspense!
Revisado: 12-16-24
I alternated between the audiobook and book.
I give this book a 3.5-4 stars and the audiobook 4.5 stars.
Think of The Hunger Games but darker and magical and you get Lightlark.
The fmc Isla Crown has to fight for her people and realm to break a terrible curse on an island that appears every 100 years. There are so many secrets, twists and turns, and lies from a the rulers and will keep you on your toes.
At first I found the story confusing but started to enjoy it. Like most fantasy books-it starts a bit slow so you can understand the backstory but the suspense is worth the wait.
The reason I was a bit iffy on the rating is because I had a hard time keeping track of some of the names, powers, and different groupings.
I definitely didn’t guess the major plot towards the end which I appreciated because I like the surprise of a good fantasy.
There is also a little bit of a love triangle going on between 2 of the rulers so I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The story does end on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Historia
Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

🎄enemies to lovers
🎄reverse fake dating
🎄questionable use of a candy cane 🤭
🎄Christmas games
🎄small town/family vibes
The story has all the Grinch Easter eggs and will having you cracking a rib every turn.
Shane East as the narrator was the icing on the cake 😂
His banter with JF Harding as Cole made the story so much better.
Vanessa Edwin did an amazing job as Storee Taylor who is our fmc who has become comfortable living a life where she is mostly alone until she gets a call where her Aunt Cindy broke a hip and needs help from Storee and her sister.
Of course Storee runs into Cole, our mmc, and can’t understand why he is being so hostile towards her since she hasn’t seen him in a decade.
Cole has his own demons to deal with but has his best friend Atlas aka Max to lean on and the character development throughout the book was very well done.
This is a slow burn but so worth it

Killian Barclay has had enough heartache to last a lifetime, and he has no more need for love—earning him the reputation of a broody Scot and eventually turning his famous ancestral home into a den of iniquity. It doesn't take long for tales of his raunchy house parties to reach the rest of his family, though, inspiring them to hatch a plan to shake Killian out of his routine.

Great Narration!
Revisado: 12-11-24
Hehehe I loved this book so much.
Sara Cate is an automatic buy for me and never disappoints.
I will be honest though, at the beginning of the book I wasn’t sure i would like it because Sylvie-the fmc- annoyed me so much and came off as a spoiled brat. Seriously-a 25 year old who gets an allowance and doesn’t have a job????
but it makes sense. She has the worst parents ever that never gave her any attention because they were to busy being rich artists and she caught her boyfriend of 3 years cheating on her with her best friend making her come to a decision on a major deal that has been offered to her.
When reading through it definitely makes more sense and I liked seeing her character development and how she see between the lines when the other people in his and her life don’t.
The mmc Killian Barclay was definitely a favorite Scottish brute 😂. He endured some pretty hard stuff that no one should ever have to in this life and it really had a major impact on his life. He prefers to live in a Scottish manor alone and hates that his family are trying to take away the manor from him and hates the whirlwind of Sylvie at first.
I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars because I wish there would’ve been more to the story between Sylvie and Killian and the other characters and a little more spice. Especially at the end during the phone call with a family member. I would’ve liked to know more.
It is a little bit of a slow burn with an HEA
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🖤enemies to lovers

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Will Watt and Kelli Tager. They did an incredible job bringing the characters to life and the accents. Absolutely loved Will Watt’s Scottish accent. I could tell the difference between each voice/character which I appreciated.
