Beautiful story telling
Revisado: 11-04-24
A beautifully written, meandering story with a vibrant cast of characters ( that at times, were hard to keep track of ) Not a page turner, but a expertly woven story of people and place.

Historia
This transcendent story follows four college friends who move to New York City, buoyed by ambition: Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, an artist; Malcolm, an architect; and, at the center, Jude, a withdrawn, brilliant attorney haunted by an unspeakable past. Through decades of shared and separate lives, Jude’s suffering - and its impact on those who love him - raises questions about the limits of human endurance, the possibility for redemption, and the meaning of friendship.

Way too long
Revisado: 02-17-20
Excellent narration but the book is too depressing to be so long. And what’s with the ending?

narration not good and a bit all over the place
Revisado: 09-27-19
The narrator ruined this book for me - whiney, screechy white American voice was horrible while the African voice was rich and beautiful. It was just too much of a contrast and really hard on the ears. Also there were times when I thought the plot was all over the place - maybe not the best book for an audio book.

Historia
Stranded in the Amazon rainforest, a lost man fights for survival and discovers that the root of evil doesn’t just reside in the world’s darkest corners, but inside the hearts of all mankind. Dr. Gregory Zekser is on a mission to visit the furthest reaches of the Amazon, providing medical aid to recently contacted tribes. As a general practitioner and food pantry director, his life in Massachusetts can be chaotic, but serving people is what he does best, and he doesn’t mind sacrificing his personal life to help others, at home or halfway around the world.

Definitely not a medical thriller but still good
Revisado: 07-18-19
This is a first time read for me of Jeremy Robinson's work and at many points in the story I was too captivated to stop listening. I am not a science fiction fan and there were elements in this story that were a bit far fetched, but that had nothing to do with the writing. I do think that Audible has defined the book incorrectly - it definitely is not a medical thriller.
Luke Daniels is a very good narrator - his command of different voices - both male and female is superb. I look forward to listening to him again.

Did I miss something?
Revisado: 03-29-19
Wow, not sure how this book got so many great reviews, but this was the most predictable storyline ever. Honestly, it started out interesting so the story did have my attention in the beginning, but then the story just dragged to it's eventual predictable ending. Also I couldn't tell the difference between the narrators - they all just added to the confusion and disappointment and why so many. I am so disappointed after all the wonderful reviews - thought I was getting a good one but save your credit.

Should have read the reviews to see how bad it is
Revisado: 06-23-18
This book is written ok and the beginning pulls you in but plot is so full of holes it was ridiculous. I have no idea how this book is a 4.4 with 2730 reviews. Wish I had not wasted my money on it.

Didn't quite do it for me
Revisado: 04-27-18
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I think some of the narration was a bit too loud.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most interesting - it's a coming of age story that is nicely done. Least interesting - I am not a fan of the text / email technique.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I liked both the the voices, but I felt that at times both were weirdly loud.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably not. It really lacked a plot.
