Historia
Sometimes, the worst day of your life happens, and you have to figure out how to live after it. So Clementine forms a plan to keep her heart safe: work hard, find someone decent to love, and try to remember to chase the moon. The last one is silly and obviously metaphorical, but her aunt always told her that you needed at least one big dream to keep going. And for the last year, that plan has gone off without a hitch. Mostly. The love part is hard because she doesn’t want to get too close to anyone—she isn’t sure her heart can take it.

Using ReInception to rid society of unwanted human behaviors seemed like a noble cause, but thanks to Ward and Leandrea and their high-profile rebellion, the world was about to find out the brutal truth. Powerful political and corporate interests want ReInception to continue, expanding the procedure to prisoners, social dissidents and, most of all, the serving class known as the Prole. They will stop at nothing to keep the truth about ReInception hidden.

Guardians of the Galaxy meets dystopian America
Revisado: 01-11-25
I jumped into the series and still followed the events that were happening which I think is a testament to the storytelling abilities of the author. By chapter 3 I understood the setting and character and was eager to finish so I can go read book 1.
The world building is why I rated this book a 5, I won’t be forgetting this setting anytime soon. I loved learning about this environment from the in-depth view of the characters.
Loved the dual narration and felt both narrators did well providing emotion and life to the characters.
Well done!

A book that stays with you
Revisado: 08-19-24
The First Ladies by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray is a wonderful novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading. I was very impressed by how real and immersive the story felt - it was like being in the room with First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune.
I found myself learning so much and thoroughly enjoying how the authors navigated the deeply emotional and sometimes triggering topics. The historical and author's notes at the end provided nice behind-the-scenes thoughts and context that rounded out the reading experience.

So good! Everything from the narration to the pacing was perfection. The story really draws you in. It feels made for millennials, with the explorations of employment, sense of self and trying to figure everything out. And the ending!!! Just wow. I have no complaints on this one.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Great ending
Revisado: 07-04-24
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides delivers a very satisfying, twisty ending that I didn't see coming. The storyline is highly unpredictable, which kept me reading.
While the beginning felt a bit dry to me at times, with a lack of sensory details that made it harder to fully immerse myself, the middle and end sections really picked up the pace and drew me in.
Ultimately, I'd definitely recommend giving this book a read. The payoff in the final act makes the minor pacing issues earlier on worth pushing through.

Historia
FBI Agent Emmy Dockery is absolutely relentless. She's young and driven, and her unique skill at seeing connections others miss has brought her an impressive string of arrests. But a shocking new case - unfolding across the country - has left her utterly baffled. The victims all appear to have died by accident, and have seemingly nothing in common. But this many deaths can't be coincidence. And the killer is somehow one step ahead of every move Dockery makes. How? To FBI Special Agent Harrison "Books" Bookman, everyone in the FBI is a suspect - particularly Emmy Dockery.
