"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Not your typical fantasy.
Revisado: 01-12-21
If you are looking for a "normal" epic fantasy where adventure has no lasting consequences on the characters in it other than who is the ruler of a land this book is not for you.
If however you wonder what might actually happen to a young woman who falls into a d&d style world from our modern one with very little understanding of what that life is like that is what you will get in this book.
There is a lot of focus on the trauma that the main character has from what she faces. Is it pleasant? No. It's also more realistic than a young person from our modern world just happily accepting all the death and work of such a world. When you think about it a 16 year old boy from our world findings himself in a similar world to this book and just kills "bad guys" with no remorse is kind of psychopathic.
I enjoyed this book a lot for what it was. I could see why others might not but a story is supposed to help us understand how others see the world. maybe try it.

Historia
On a cold spring night in 1952, a huge meteorite fell to earth and obliterated much of the East Coast of the US, including Washington, DC. The ensuing climate cataclysm will soon render the Earth inhospitable for humanity, as the last such meteorite did for the dinosaurs. This looming threat calls for a radically accelerated effort to colonize space and requires a much-larger share of humanity to take part in the process. Elma York’s drive to become the first lady astronaut is so strong that even the most dearly held conventions of society may not stand a chance against her.

captivating writing and performance
Revisado: 07-10-20
I am not usually into "hard" sci fi or speculative fiction. I picked this up because I had heard so much about it from the author her self on a pod cast (writing excuses) and decided to give it a try. I could not put it down. The characters are so easy to care for, even the ones who seem like bad people. I've never cared about space travel in real life but this has lead me to want to know more about what is going on in today's world. I can't wait to keep going. A new one in the series is due out next week.

Historia
The once-thriving houseboat communities along Arkansas' White River are long gone, and few remember the sensational murder story that set local darling Helen Spence on a tragic path. In 1931, Spence shocked Arkansas when she avenged her father's murder in a DeWitt courtroom. The state soon discovered that no prison could hold her. For the first time, prison records are unveiled to provide an essential portrait. Join author Denise Parkinson for an intimate look at a Depression-era tragedy. The legend of Helen Spence refuses to be forgotten - despite her unmarked grave.

beauty and intrigue
Revisado: 10-30-19
This book was clearly written and then narrated by someone who knows and loves the land in Arkansas. The descriptions of the area drew me in and made me fall in love with it. The story itself was very amazing too. A look into the all to often forgotten history of those who were not wealthy. The story of Helen Spence is uplifting and tragic. This small peek into the life lived in that time and place is not only a treasure to hear but it makes me think. I now want to know more about that place past and present. Those people from then and now with all that has changed. It is a thing I have never looked into before and I regret that. thank you Denice White Parkinson for writing this and also to S.J. Tucker for putting so much love into this work. it was amazing.

Historia
In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead. The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past. But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance. An enemy that is already dead.

Peter Clines does another great book
Revisado: 03-01-19
This was a great story to add in the threshold universe (universes). Please forgive my little joke. I was a little hesitant at first because of a over proliferation of a certain horror trope. However Peter brought his A game and knocked it out of the park.

Historia
Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.
