I love the Bible! I did have difficulty often making out what the narrator was saying when his very deep voice would hit its lowest timbre and I had to replay those parts often.

Must Read for Christian Never-Trumpers

This book addresses the concerns of Christians, especially, over the perceived defects of Donald Trump. It tells of the supernatural work that went on behind the scenes leading up to the 2016 election. I read this early on in Trump's first term and, after observing all that he was able to accomplish in the face of the very forces of hell attempting to bring him down, I have become convinced that Donald Trump was and still is God's man for this time in our nation.

Spurgeon's MORNING & EVENING devotional has became a regular and important part of my day. The author's teaching from God's Word is instructive, comforting, and encouraging. James Adams is the best narrator of all the Spurgeon books I have listened to and I wish he had been used more extensively, especially in THE TREASURY OF DAVID. My only criticism is that the recording is not broken down by dates and listed under "chapters" as the devotionals themselves are. Instead, 365 days of devotionals are split up into 23 chapters that are also not identified as to their contents under "chapters." I have other devotional audiobooks that do a better job of breaking down and identifying the days/dates so that if I get behind or miss some days I can find the reading for the day I want. Thank you.

Music completely distracts from beauty of the text

The Psalms and Proverbs are some of my favorite parts of Scripture, and there isn't a lot that can take away the beauty of their words--unless it is this version. The addition of background music not only did not enhance this production, but made it--for me anyhow--"unlistenable." Tastes in music are quite subjective and whoever thought it would be a good idea to add music to this audiobook got it all wrong. The ancient and eternal inspired words of David and the Psalmists and Solomon in the Proverbs need nothing added to them; here, the music completely detracted and distracted from the beauty of Scripture. I didn't think I needed to sample this audiobook as I know these passages well--had I done so I would have passed on this book and ordered the print version instead. I will make sure to listen to the samples before making further purchases. Please make sure to mention in the description of the book/title details that music has been added to the narration

Distracting Narrator

Any time I find myself being distracted by the intonations of a narrator more than I am caught up in the story--the audiobook is a diappointment. Charlotte Hubbard has been my favorite Amish fiction writer and I am wondering why the change in narrator--the last one worked, this one just really doesn't. The narrator sounds like she is reading, has a little of the valley-girl sound, and does not excel at the male voices.

I could not focus on the content of this book because of the narrator's overly dramatic reading. I regularly listen to Tony Evan's messages and downloaded the sermons this book is based on that are in Evans' own voice.

I read the print copy of this book, it was life-changing and one of my favorite books of all time. There is so much in it to take in, that I would love to read it again and again. That is what I love about audiobooks: one can read or "hear" a book one has read before and gain new insights from it. This was not the case with this "abridged" version. I was thoroughly distracted by what was missing from the original text. Audible, please re-release this book UNABRIDGED. Thank you.

I enjoy books the most when there are great sensory details and imagery that puts me in the story--but having to listen to the narrator detail so many instances of housecleaning is not a visual I am interested in experiencing when I want to escape into a book.

It seems like there really wasn't much of a book here--the whole concept of what the harbinger actually is could have been relayed in 1-2 hours tops. Instead, it is 7 hours, 42 minutes of the narrator repeating the lines something like this: "That's what the man said?" I asked. "That's what the man said," he answered. "Was that all he had to say?" "That's all he had to say," he replied. "So you're saying that he said that?" I asked. Again, he replied, "Yes, I am saying he said that, and that is all he had to say." And on and on it goes, clearly to deliver a fairly short message in book form when it could have been covered in something more akin to a brochure.

Not so much about heaven-

--more about what heaven ISN'T. MacArthur should have titled this work "The Falsehood and Deception of Near Death Experience Stories" for that is what the overwhelming majority of this book is about. MacArthur takes apart the details of these stories one by one, explaining why they are false--and obviously with much more of a sense of urgency in relaying the heresy of those texts than going into much detail of his understanding of heaven. That's all well and good--had I wanted to read a book on that subject rather than what I thought it would be about--what the glory of heaven might be like for those of us who are headed there, some sooner than others.
