Historia
The starship crew was stuck on a planet where the well-meaning schemes of ivory-tower social engineers had created a nightmare of battling gangs. So they pretended to be the "Royal Legions" from a distant star kingdom in hot pursuit of an unspeakably evil and nearly all-powerful villain who was hiding somewhere on the planet. Things went even better than they had hoped, and the planet was rapidly becoming civilized...and then the real Royal Flagship showed up.

These guys are on a super
space yacht, They break down and go to a world that cannot fix the ship, during a rebellion by colonists. This world also has huge wild beasts attacking the lander. The story is incoherent, like a 1950s comic book. No character

Historia
For 60 years Jewish refugees and their descendants have prospered in the federal district of Sitka, a temporary safe haven created in the wake of the Holocaust and the shocking 1948 collapse of the fledgling state of Israel. The Jews of the Sitka District have created their own little world in the Alaskan panhandle, a vibrant and complex frontier city that moves to the music of Yiddish. But now the district is set to revert to Alaskan control, and their dream is coming to an end.

A Work of brilliance, humor and compassion
Revisado: 09-22-22
I was shocked and surprised by the passionate velocity of the story which begins on page 1 and continues to the last word.
It is science-fiction, detective fiction, and a host of sub-genres. In addition to the story, it is one of the finest stories of Jewish culture as it is lived by the wide diaspora of Jews that run the gamut of hipster poets, leftist academics, Hasidic Rebbe Cults,
Conservative and Orthodox groups that are instantly recognizable. It is also a family drama as most Jews do seem to see themselves as a family group, many times removed. It is one iteration of the great American Novel. I loved it and know I will read or again and again. It would make a great film if anyone is listening. The characters are beautifully rendered, painted with a compassionate brush that draws the reader closer and closer.

Labor organizer Padma Mehta is on the edge of space and the edge of burnout. All she wants is to buy out a little rum distillery and retire, but she's supposed to recruit 500 people to the Union before she can. She's only 33 short. So when a small-time con artist tells her about 40 people ready to tumble down the space elevator to break free from her old bosses, she checks it out - against her better judgment. It turns out, of course, it was all lies.

Historia
The Krakau came to Earth in the year 2104. By 2105, humanity had been reduced to shambling, feral monsters. In the Krakau's defense, it was an accident, and a century later, they did come back and try to fix us. Sort of. It's been four months since Marion "Mops" Adamopoulos learned the truth of that accident. Four months since she and her team of hygiene and sanitation specialists stole the EMCS Pufferfish and stopped a bioterrorism attack against the Krakau homeworld. Four months since she set out to find proof of what really happened on Earth all those years ago.

Great Space Opera- Unexpected and Rich
Revisado: 02-28-20
Terminal alliance and the sequel, Terminal Uprising, are great Science fiction, and I cannot recommend them more. My life is consumed by a desperate search for good books, particularly Science Fiction. The story was so unexpected, starting off with a janitorial crew on a starship, but moving into a wonderfully drawn galactic civilization and the conflicts that have arisen. Humans are second class citizens and that is how it starts. The characters, both human and alien are written with wit and sympathy. It is funny in parts but as the plot unfolds becomes moving and deeply emotional. The book reminded me of the greats from the golden age of Science Fiction. I often buy the Audible version as well as the written book because I can then switch back and forth between them. Rebecca Mitchell was the narrator and she did a great job voicing the plot and characters. They are Space Opera and a whole lot more. I highly recommend them in both forms and hope Jim Hines will write many more books in this genre

Historia
The Krakau came to Earth to invite humanity into a growing alliance of sentient species. However, they happened to arrive after a mutated plague wiped out half the planet, turned the rest into shambling, near-unstoppable animals, and basically destroyed human civilization. You know - your standard apocalypse. The Krakau's first impulse was to turn around and go home. Their second impulse was to try to fix us. Now, a century later, human beings might not be what they once were, but at least they're no longer trying to eat everyone. Mostly.

Claire DeWitt, the hard-living and tough-talking private investigator, has always been something of a detective. As a young girl growing up in Brooklyn, Claire and her two best friends, Tracy and Kelly, solved many cases together and were inseparable - until the day Tracy vanished without a trace. That is still the only case Claire ever failed to solve. Later, in her 20s, Claire is in Los Angeles trying to get her PI license by taking on a cold case that has stumped the LAPD. Today, Claire is on her way to Las Vegas from San Francisco when she’s almost killed by a homicidal driver. As these three narratives converge, some mysteries are solved and others continue to haunt.

Very intelligent- literary- stories within stories that wind back into other stories. Ms. Many was good. The heroine is unsympathetic, egotistical, no warmth or compassion for herself or others. There is a Lot about the art world which I know well. The book was confusing to me

Space opera with a distinct Latina flavor. Far better than many titles I have heard recently. Lots of cats, psychic parasites, family squabbles but a lot of fun. Well written, insouciant, humorous, charming

Historia
Robbie Parsons is one of London's finest, a black cab driver who knows the city by heart. In his backseat is a man with a gun in his hand - a man who brazenly committed a crime in front of the Artemis Club then jumped in and ordered Parsons to drive. As the criminal eventually escapes to Nairobi, Detective Superintendent Richard Jury comes across the case. He knew one of the victims, a professor of astrophysics and an expert gambler. Feeling personally affronted, Jury enlists his whole gang of merry characters to contend with a case that involves Tanzanian gem mines, a closed Reno casino, and a hidden pub.

One of the Best audible and readable books ever
Revisado: 05-26-18
I loved this book. My favorite book of the year. It is not perfect but it was so much fun going on the journey of the book that I wanted to share my experience. It has a wonderful cast of characters who live in these pages, presided over by Richard Jury, the ostensible protagonist, but who often take over the narrative in amusing and unforeseen ways. The idea of the knowledge as the secret lore of cabbies in London and who can find a pub called The Knowledge, founded by an ex-cabbie, at the unlisted heart of the labyrinth, is a conceit that works so well within the logic of the book, that I did not question it. I laughed out loud and heartily many times while listening and reading- ( I often buy the audible and reading version so I can switch off). Jury's friends, the people we meet along the way. I especially loved the children, enough said. I liked the book so much that I tried other Martha Grimes books- this was my first- but so far none of them are as enjoyable as this one, and in fact, I was disappointed because this was so good. I am a critical reader and do not give accolades but I thought this was a minor masterpiece. My taste is eccentric in film and books but I loved it.

It bothers to have stories that do not make sense
Revisado: 01-25-15
In the beginning, I liked the story of the Captain Cody Riggs and his ship. The narrator did a good job of portraying a likable character and his friends a colleagues on the ship. In the end some of the battles do not add up, and that was a problem for me. In what seemed like a bid to create action and drama, he creates battles at the end that were not necessary to drive the plot or reveal the character of the protagonist. Great flaw in my book. I hope I can say that a writer who is talented ruined the book in my eyes. I will try one more. I hope it does not have these flaws

started out great but later disappointed
Revisado: 10-27-14
Novel starts out as a military procedural- an account of Vince Lombard of an earlier attack on a large space battlecruiser. In the beginning it is good, witty writing and dialog. I have questions of why he used flashback, he brings in a feminine military interviewer. The military in Lee's universe seem mainly to be men's men. Maybe that would be different in the future. My problem with the story is the battle. Marines taking almost suicidal attack on a battle cruiser would try to do as much damage as possible, to disable the ship, once proved hostile. These marines seems aimlessly moving from point to point, without doing much of anything. Why would they restore atmosphere? Had a real problem with the rest of the book.
So many of current sci-fi disappoints.
