These stories range from darkly comic to deeply chilling, but they all look forward. Featuring stories by Andy Weir, Amor Towles, Veronica Roth, N. K. Very interesting and unique short stories
Revisado: 10-23-24
All the stories were well read and performed. They are good, with “New Skin” and “Randomize” being my favorite.

Historia
Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times best sellers including Talking to Strangers and host of the podcast Revisionist History, uses original interviews, archival footage, and his trademark insight to weave together the stories of a Dutch genius and his homemade computer, a band of brothers in Central Alabama, a British psychopath, and pyromaniacal chemists at Harvard. As listeners hear these stories unfurl, Gladwell examines one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

Interesting and well read/performed
Revisado: 05-23-23
I like how the author for the audio book incorporated the recordings of the interviews. Probably because it was an audiobook first, then a written book. But i liked how it was intergraded. Short book and a quick listen, i wish the author developed more on how the Bomber Mafia influenced the creation of the USAF and its culture today.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Revisado: 05-20-23
The narrator is excellent! Did a fantastic job. I really like this book, actually wished it was a little longer, felt like the author rushed the ending a bit. But in all a great book/listen.

Historia
The collapse of The Flow, the interstellar pathway between the planets of the Interdependency, has accelerated. Entire star systems - and billions of people - are becoming cut off from the rest of human civilization. This collapse was foretold through scientific prediction...and yet, even as the evidence is obvious and insurmountable, many still try to rationalize, delay and profit from, these final days of one of the greatest empires humanity has ever known.

Revisado: 08-02-20
I was really looking forward to the 3rd installment. But i thin the author kinda didn’t know how to end it. Some of it seemed to a bit to Deus ex machina or rushed. But over a good read by Will.

interesting take on the history of US
Revisado: 08-08-18
book starts with the crash of 1907 and it's reasons for it. There is definitely a underlining theme to all the crashes, 1929, 1987, 2007, and 2010. I do wish the author talked a little about the crashes in the late 1800s that happened quite often. but in all a good book

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

great narrator!
Revisado: 08-06-18
good story and great narration by Rosario Dawson. She had great inflection and added spunk to the main character that is kinda rebellious. From my understanding this will be a series of books, and the author in this first take is setting up reader for more continued stories.

A major audiobook about the future of the world, blending intellectual and natural history and field reporting into a powerful account of the mass extinction unfolding before our eyes. Over the last half a billion years, there have been five mass extinctions, when the diversity of life on Earth suddenly and dramatically contracted. Scientists around the world are currently monitoring the sixth extinction, predicted to be the most devastating extinction event since the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs.

Revisado: 07-26-18
interesting listen. Author makes seems like we, man kind, fate is already sealed. We are doomed. Not sure I believe it's too late to make smart changes. But in all good book. The series of events is well written. The reader does a good job with the information.

Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

interesting...kinda been done before but well done
Revisado: 10-19-17
it's one of those "Stranger than Fiction" type stories where the characters are actually real but the writers don't know that. It's different enough to make it unique, even pokes fun of itself for ripping off parts of those other stories that break the '4th wall'. It is well read and entertaining.

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.
