This book was recommended by someone I admire greatly, and the general concepts of “upper limiting” and the “zone of genius” are very interesting to me, so I had a lot of hope… but the book completely under-delivers. It’s full of New Agey stuff that just felt like complete fluff, not evidence based, and there was a huge lack of specifics.

There were a few decent questions to help you find your “Zone of Genius,” but nothing really unique that other “find your passion” guides don’t have. I would have enjoyed the book more if it just zoomed in on that one concept (zone of genius), rather than cramming in a bunch of other under-explained topics, too.

The chapter on “Einstein time” was THE WORST. He just kept saying “you are the source of time” without explaining what it even means, or what it has to do with Einstein.

I rarely take time to write negative reviews. But this one was so frustrating with how much I thought it might be useful and then it wasn’t. It’s like his fancy terminology gave me hope, but then the terms were without useful substance.

Potentially life-changing perspective in this book, helping you see the actual evolutionary reason for the emotions and beliefs you have. Really I won’t be the same person ever again, and I recommend this book for some of those perspective shifts alone.

It gets slow at a few points when belaboring the biographical details of Charles Darwin’s life. And the last few chapters got a bit prescriptive as far as utilitarian ethics, which I’m not sure I agree with. It was still interesting to hear Wright’s viewpoints on that, though.

Overall one of the more impactful books I’ve ever read/listened to, so I gotta give 5 stars, despite the few disagreements I had.

We all know fruits and vegetables are good for us, but this book takes this understanding to another level. You will be RUNNING to the nearest produce section.

I bought print copies for both my parents for Christmas, because I want them to have a healthy and enjoyable progression into their old age. The audiobook is even better than print, because Dr Greger is a great speaker, and you can listen any time.

If you want to re-motivate yourself to eat healthy, just listen to this audiobook for 15 minutes whenever you need. The life-saving power of whole plant foods is so real, and it's important to remember that, so we keep putting in the effort to eat them!

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has changed my life, and this was the audiobook that introduced me to it. The practices of ACT have dug me out of several deep holes in my life already.

When I listened to this audiobook about a year ago, I had listened to a few audiobooks about confidence already, but this was the first one that made intuitive sense to me. I trusted the advice given, maybe because I have a background with practicing Buddhist meditation, so the mindfulness advice aligned with my beliefs.

Learning about "experiential avoidance" is what really changed my life, because I realized it was exactly what I was doing. This book helped me recognize my self-sabotaging patterns and change them.

In addition to this book, the other audiobook that really helped introduce me to ACT was "Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life" by Stephen C Hayes. I recommend that audiobook, too.

One of the best foundational pieces of advice from this book, which I will remember forever: "The actions of confidence come first, the feelings of confidence come later."

This book was what sparked my interest in nutrition and health, and it really changed my life in a way.

But I'll mention this, too: I think "How Not To Die" by Dr. Michael Greger is an even better book, which covers a lot of the same information (evidence of disease reversal with a whole-food plant-based diet), plus it has more about the role of micronutrients such as antioxidants, too.

It felt cliche and useless to me; I stopped listening and deleted it.

"Secrets to Success"... just read that phrase. Not an interesting book in my opinion

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly?

When he accidentally stuck himself with an HIV-infected needle... I was just like "Oh my God"... The story was already intense before that, and now I'm just thinking, "Wow... what an intense year for this guy."

Any additional comments?

At times this book kind of scared me away from wanting to pursue medicine as a career! But it captured a lot of the positive aspects of it, too. I really liked this book.

A lot of great nutrition information from a speaker who I thought was sensible and trustworthy. I especially appreciated that nutrition needs for athletes was specifically addressed at many points, as the speaker has a lot of experience as a sports dietitian.

Some of the chapters focusing on specific nutrients felt a little boring to me, compared to other chapters which looked at bigger health issues like obesity or diabetes as a whole. But overall I appreciated the wealth of information here!

As someone who feels maybe-interested in becoming a doctor, I really really enjoyed this audiobook. It was really interesting to be guided through the diagnosis process for a wide variety of cases. The narrator is great, too. I've listened to all 3 of the "Medical School for Everyone" audiobooks now, and I've really come to like Roy. He is so caring and informative. He's the kind of doctor I would want to be if I end up pursuing that career path.
