Historia
Out of options, Ufthak leads his Waaagh! through the mysterious webway, to a place where kunnin’, sneakin’, and thinkin’ are the name of the game. A place with little truck for muscle and brawn – Commorragh, the Dark City. Here, where kabals and haemonculus covens pump psychic viscera into the warp, Ufthak is thrown into gladiatorial combat and soon finds himself up against an archon who will stop at nothing to prove she deserves to rule the Dark City – even if it means bringing Commorragh down around her.

If you love the Orks in Warhammer 40k, than this book and its prequel should be an easy buy. These are fantastic books by Mike Brooks. He perfectly captures what the perspective and life of an Ork or a Grot would be. The story is given from a few perspectives that allow the reader to truly enjoy the universe and story. I've listened to this book probably over a dozen times now and still enjoy it. One of the reasons its so enjoyable is the PERFECT voice acting by Harry Myers. I don't know what blood stained football pub they dug him out of, but there are few other actors who so perfectly bring the voice of the Green Tide to life so well.

Cadia licks its wounds in the wake of the Thirteenth Black Crusade. The heretic forces retreat on all fronts. The day is won. But Lord Castellan Creed cannot rest easy. Something tells him the assault was a mere prelude to something greater, something more final. He is right. Out of the Eye of Terror comes Abaddon the Despoiler, at the head of a warhost unmatched in scale since the dread days of the Horus Heresy. In the face of the looming apocalypse, Creed must weld the champions of Cadia into a bulwark capable of withstanding Abaddon’s fury.

A book worthy of moving the lore forward.

Fantastic writing that kept me engaged throughout. I was wondering about halfway through how all the individual plot lines would be resolved, and was very satisfied by the end. Lots of glorious last stands and "For the Emperor!" moments for Imperial Guard fans. Overall a more than satisfactory story for the fall of Cadia and if you are looking for high stakes action you will not be left wanting.

Former ace fighter pilot Bree Jagdea’s days of high-octane, white-knuckle dogfights are long behind her. Content with executing supply runs for the war effort, Jagdea considers herself retired. But when enemy forces start a relentless bombing campaign through the hive city of Vesperus, Jagdea is forced back into the Aeronautica – stationed with the infamous Circus 66 squadron, executing near-suicidal dead-drops and blistering interception runs through Vesperus’ lethal rat runs.

Fun Aeronuatica Imperialis story!
Revisado: 03-16-25
Though perhaps not the greatest of Dan Abnett's books, I did thoroughly enjoy this one. There is a decent bit of mystery, good character development, plenty of action. My only criticism is that then ending seemed a little rushed, but satisfying none-the-less. But I suppose that is more on me for expecting a "glory story" ending. As always Toby Longworth's performance was mesmerizing, the man could read archived soil sample data and I'd still pay to listen. Every time I see and Dan Abnett book being read by Toby Longworth, I buy. I've been a huge fan of the duo since I first got pulled into the Warhammer 40k universe with the Eisenhorn saga. And if you are like me, you will not be disappointed with this purchase.

A great collection of short stories in Horus Heresy timeline. I genuinely enjoyed Christopher Tester's narration and hope to see him return to more Black Library books in the future.
