I was super busy, so I’m glad Neil Degrasse Tyson wrote this. Ah crap, I’m late to my next meeting thanks to writing this review.

We are never getting Winds of Winter, are we? The year is 2150, and George RR Martin uploaded his consciousness into chatGPT and is still posting updates akin to “Finally getting some time to write. 2051 is the year of progress.”

It’s weird that so many people who both like and dislike Robert Moses call this a hit piece. Robert Caro takes a thoughtful and complete look at the man and his history. You really get a feel for both his good and his nefarious intentions .

Solid look under the hood of the bombastic Burke

I really like Burke’s approach to story telling. He’s blunt and doesn’t hide his point of view. I gave it 4 stars, because he was quick to attack people he disagreed with while doubling down on his failures (95 lockout, poor handling of suspensions, etc). He’s a bit too quick to toot his own horn. That being said, he’s had a remarkable career which was well documented.

Sean McIndoe’s stories vary wildly in quality (75-25 good-bad ratio). Some of which are witty and sharp while some are buzzfeed-worthy schlock pieces that show his obvious bitterness against southern hockey franchises. This book falls in the former category. It’s extremely well written, and it perfectly describes the NHL’s oddball history. Definitely worth a listen.

It’s been over 3 and a half years, and it never gets old. “THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS LOST A NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGE GAME TO A 42 YEAR OLD ZAMBONI DRIVER WHO WORKS FOR THEM!”

The story reads like an encyclopedia and is world building in its truest form. Not much in the way of drama and is not told in POV perspective. Lots of repeat information from other ASOIAF books. Last sentence is why I gave a 3-star story rating. Otherwise a good listen.

First, let me say that Wil Wheaton does an amazing job narrating. However, that's the only positive. Ernest Cline didn’t put much effort into this story; It is a generic loveable loser becomes an unlikely hero and saves the world, Insert gratuitous 80s movie and pop culture references (with one Team America), you have Armada. This book is a simple cash grab for Cline as evidenced by his selling the filming rights within weeks of this book’s release. Hopefully it stays in development hell or becomes a straight to streaming film. If RP1 was a dumpster fire of a movie, I can't imagine what this would be.

I expected this to be inferior to RPO, but I didn’t expect such a horrendous story. Stereotypical character development, weak plot that brazenly rips off old sci-fi films and shows. At its core, the plot is a generic misfit with an absentee father becomes a hero, meets a girl, makes a mistake, and redeems himself. The damned twist at the end was predictable too! Sad excuse for a book.
