More focused on 'change' than gratitude. I was just looking for help with gratitude for the life I have at the moment.

Heller reveal how an understanding of attachment theory - the most advanced relationship science in existence today - can help us find and sustain love. Great Book
Revisado: 11-04-20
I wish I'd found this earlier in life but I'm not sure that I was ready or able to see some of my own insecure patterns or appreciate what they were doing to my relationships and marriage until it was too late. I've been both anxious, avoidant, and finally settled on an 'earned secure' after a lot of therapy and work. A few years ago, this was a compass for that bigger picture.

74 Reviews on October 6th, 2019. Impressive.
Revisado: 10-07-19
EMDR really helped me clear up several issues in my life. I was hoping that the book had some insight into how to make it work outside of a therapist's office. It did not.
First... this was read by a text-to-speach program. Zero inflection. The words were pronounced properly but ALL grammatical errors and/or anomalies were read without even an attempt at correcting them for the author.
For a self-help book, it wastes a lot of time on what clinicians should consider in their clients, and even their office space. Maybe that makes sense for setting up your DIY environment but I'm not seeing clients. If I did, I wouldn't learn how to from a 3 hour audiobook.
I might be about 100 titles into my Audible subscription and have never left a negative review. I have left more than a few positives. On the other hand, I've read reviews by people who've shreaded narrators and authors for producing work an order of magnitude better than this that I thought were just fine. I picked this up hoping to send it to a friend who I thought could.be helped by it, rather than 10 hours of Francine Shapiro. I thought wrong. I clearly didn't do my homework. The fact that 74 reviews were submitted in a single day without so much as a single '4' amongst them should have stood out like a sore thumb. Seriously, hire a better fake reviewer. Or if it's the author, just stop reviewing them yourself.
I was refunded my credit. Thank you Audible.

I actually downloaded this thinking that I'd learn about the importance of communicating desires and/or something along those lines. I did, in a roundabout way. Groovy book regardless.

Historia
Carol E. Miller was 16 when the private plane piloted by her father crashed, pinning her in the wreckage, critically injuring her parents, and killing her 12-year-old sister. Compounding this traumatic event, her father told her he wished she had died instead of her sister. For the next 20 years, she labored under feelings of guilt and a lack of self-worth. When another in a long line of personal crises landed her in therapy with an EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) practitioner, she began at last to investigate the crippling effects of the plane crash.

Glad I Read This Now...
Revisado: 01-24-19
I'm glad that I heard this now. If I listened 5 or 6 years ago, I probably would have saved my marriage. Thank God that I stumbled upon it later! It did point out some key mistakes that I made trying to save my marriage from oblivion and why it ultimately didn't work.

Sidesteps Attachment Disorders
Revisado: 09-21-18
It was decent material, don't get me wrong. I just don't understand how her character types work when you couple them with attachment disorders that she only mentions in passing. I'm not completely sure what the target age group is for this material but if you're trying to date again at 40 like I was... ignore attachment disorders at your own peril.

What you need to know
Revisado: 07-10-18
NOT a pickup manual but I suppose that you could use the powers for evil. It's more of a 'stop your relationship(s) from sucking' guide. I've read similar stuff elsewhere from pickup writers but more focused on conquest than relationship skills. That's what differentiates this from all of the other crap that's out there. You wont need a shower to wash off the greasy film when you put it down. I also read an Amazon review labeling it a 'blue pill' book. No, it's not a red pill or a blue pill book. It's for grownups. That's actually WHY I bothered to write this.
My one criticism: Is the author 140 years old or is she so dysfunctional that she's managed to date all of these flawless men... but never been able to make one stick around? That's kinda harsh, but it crossed my mind about halfway through.

I'm glad the universe lead me to this.
Revisado: 02-14-18
I clicked to 'purchase' and began to wonder why the hell I'd done it. What was one more opinion going to teach me? I'd listened to so many other authors describe how women view things differently and none of it had prevented me from being single again. I think this book might actually have broken that paradigm.
She manages to pull in soooo much stuff that my ex-wife couldn't get me to understand (the reverse here also applies). Different authors/speakers have verified most of what she says in bits and pieces but have never really presented 'the whole' as effectively as she manages to. I actually want to run back through it to soak more up... and make some phone calls.
