Historia
From childhood to early adulthood, Jinger Duggar Vuolo followed the expectations of others, never taking the time to discover who she truly was. It wasn't until she asked herself the question, "Who am I?" that she realized she was a people pleaser. This realization led her on a journey of self-discovery and ultimately, to rely on God for her approval and sense of self-worth. Through her faith and reliance on God, Jinger began to break free from the need for approval and discover true freedom.

More of a self help style book than memoir.

I only completed half of the book as it did not grab my attention as I had hoped. The author is excellent in her performance and storytelling. There is a significant amount of Christian themes which was expected but they sometimes are presented in a way that’s too extensive. An example being that they explore a theme that by being someone who likes to make others happy that you are manipulating others and in turn sinning. I stopped the book due to it presenting its case in a guilt and blame centered way at times.
This was my interpretation and I hope you give the book a chance. Just know it’s very self help geared and at the end of each chapter she poses questions to reflect on. Small stories interjected in very repetitive chapters

Historia
In The Song of Our Scars, physician Haider Warraich offers a bold reexamination of the nature of pain, not as a simple physical sensation, but as a cultural experience. Warraich, himself a sufferer of chronic pain, considers the ways our notions of pain have been shaped not just by science but by politics and power, by whose suffering mattered and whose didn’t.

The authors personal experience only adds to the story and all it covers
Revisado: 08-16-23
As someone who struggles with chronic pain and is also a medical professional I deeply connected with the authors story.
While I enjoyed the authors approach to covering so many aspects of pain and what we know of it the last third of the book seemed a bit choppy at times trying to cover so many facets of the topic.
While a great portion of the book recounts personal experience and that of so many others experiencing chronic pain, it differs from memoirs by also touching on topics like past and present research, clinical trials, the opioids crisis, and the impact race, geography, and gender play in the pain experience.
A good read if you want to better understand the your own pain, that of your patients, or even just to better understand the silent battle so many fight daily.
The author only narrates the first chapter, and while the other narrator is great, it took a while to come around the change in voice at first.

Historia
The year 2020 was going to be the best year of Stassi’s life. Besides getting engaged and feeling like she was on top of the world career-wise, she bought her first house and was planning her dream Italian wedding. The future showed so much freaking promise—until it all went to hell. Stassi may not be perfect—she may have made some (major) mistakes—but she does feel like she has some insight (and plenty of hilarious tales) about getting knocked up, called out, and learning from what went wrong.

Fun listen that touches on a variety of topics.

I found the performance of the book to be entertaining and it kept my attention.
Overall the book is a great insight into Stassi’s story and gave an interesting insight into what we don’t normally see or hear. The author also touches on personal struggles and how she has worked on herself to grow as a person and rebuild her brand.
At times the reading can be a bit choppy as she is reading lists or others separated bodies of text, but the point is still easy to understand
As a whole if you are a vanderpump fan, Stassi fan, expecting or new mom and or just someone who loves a good first person story it’s worth a listen as it goes by quick. Fun and insightful.
