Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

GREAT STORE
Revisado: 12-21-18
it's more than just a scary story. it makes one think about the consequences of "playing god" and the ability to look beyond the exterior to see what makes a person's personality (nature vs nurture) I know that sounds totally cliche but thats what it is. I loved the book in high school and I am so glad I re-read it.

OVERRATED
Revisado: 12-30-16
Would you try another book from Emma Cline and/or Cady McClain?
Based on this book, no.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I haven't decided
What didn’t you like about Cady McClain’s performance?
It was too affected. I haven't heard her read anything before but this performance reminded me of a bad high school play.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Girls?
Her "present day" scenes. They didn't do anything for the character development and had no effect on the story.
Any additional comments?
I read this book because it had been given good reviews in different magazines I had been browsing through. I was really disappointed. The story line has so much potential however, when I got to the end I found myself saying "Is that it?".

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

TOO LONG, TOO BORING, NOTHING HAPPENS
Revisado: 06-14-15
What disappointed you about The Time Traveler's Wife?
the characters are unrelatable, the story is unnecessarily long, & there is no point to the story.
What was most disappointing about Audrey Niffenegger’s story?
I feel that the author was trying to prove she's smart and cool with this book. We know Henry likes punk and Claire is smart as it's established early in the story but then she keeps references books and music that play no role in the story whatsoever. It was really annoying.
Also, the characters don't mature or learn anything about themselves or life or the world. They have no arch.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
made it interesting.
What character would you cut from The Time Traveler's Wife?
all of them but Gomez.

Just ok. Read if you're a fan. Skip if not
Revisado: 05-19-15
Would you try another book from Morrissey and/or David Morrissey?
Yeah. David Morrissey did a great job and I'll read anything by Morrissey.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
lacking.
Which character – as performed by David Morrissey – was your favorite?
There aren't really any characters, but then again Morrissey is a character unto himself, either way David Morrissey is does a really good job. He has a really nice voice and is able to pull off the funny little Morrisseyisms that Moz tends to say now and then.
Do you think Autobiography needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yeah because I didn't think there was enough detail in this.
Any additional comments?
Honestly, I LOVE Morrissey but this book was just ok. As a fan, I found it interesting but but lacking in detail. He just kind of breezes over topics/relationships rather quickly. However, His writing is really lovely and he comes off as charming and witty which is no surprise. I would love to read some fiction by him as I think he is a great story teller normally. I love him but I'm not going to give him 5/5 just because he's Moz which is what i feel people are doing.

Couldn't get through this one. Love his other work
Revisado: 08-08-14
What would have made Art in America better?
a faster pace. I really tried to get into it but couldn't.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ron McLarty again?
I've actually love his other books. I couldn't put down "The Memory of Running" or "The Dropper". They are two of my favorite books and I highly recommend them.
What aspect of the narrator’s performance would you have changed?
His tone seemed sleepy which made me sleepy which is not good since i listen when I drive.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
um...the cover is pretty....although i listened to it so I don't have a physical cover.
Any additional comments?
I'll try listening to this one again just because I really do love Mr. McLarty's other work. I'll update this when I do.

I hate romance novels... but this one is good
Revisado: 08-08-14
What did you love best about Outlander?
I liked the main character Claire is pretty cool.
What did you like best about this story?
I like that it had that Forrest Gump effect where it mixed actual historical events into the story line. Also that the the bond between the main characters goes beyond love and is passionate. They're like a wrestling tag team. They rely on each other and are each other's equal.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't want to spoil the book by telling my favorite moment
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yea
Any additional comments?
I don't really enjoy romance novels because I feel they're too formulaic and this one was no exception but I really enjoyed in spite this. The author does an amazing job of making you feel the passion between the main characters and I found myself rooting for them where I would normally roll my eyes. Plus I enjoyed the historical aspects of the book (It had me looking up Scotland's history) and the SciFi aspect as well. Oh, and the sex scenes are pretty hot. Don't read "Fifty Shades of Gray" read this instead!!!! The ONLY thing I disliked was that the pace of the book can get slow at times.
