Dying is inevitable, but will we choose to live?
Revisado: 08-12-24
So insightful. I can ask myself soul-searching questions NOW & LIve FullOut NOW rather than die with dreams unfulfilled, important conversations not had, relationships & hurts unhealed & questions unanswered.
Another reviewer mentioned that the author's lisp was distracting, so I was listening for it. It was noticeable, but no more distracting than if talking to a friend & accepting that as a part of who she is. I think the author's reading her own work was a bonus & she did a good job. I am grateful for her transparency & enjoyed this book just as much, if not a bit more, as The book of Two Ways, by Jodi Picoult, ( a really good book!) which I finished right before I started this one.

Historia
From the moment his eyes met hers, there was something. Time stood still, the world around them vanished, and electricity... instant electricity. Immediately, she owned him in an inexplicable way he couldn’t quite understand. He couldn't escape her. Not in his dreams. And soon, not even in his reality. He was the man that made her soar. There was nothing in the world she wanted more than him. Absolutely nothing. His touch made her levitate. When she was with him, she was limitless. He felt like home.

Feel good love story! They found the love everybody wants. The ONLY downside was the narrator for Leyton. I'm sure she'll get better & I wish her well, but on this one she was, by FAR, the weakest link. Don't let that stop you from checking it out, though!

Historia
Korede is bitter. How could she not be? Her sister, Ayoola, is many things: the favorite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead. Korede’s practicality is the sisters’ saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood, the trunk of her car is big enough for a body, and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures of her dinner to Instagram when she should be mourning her “missing” boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit. Korede has long been in love with a kind, handsome doctor at the hospital where she works.

As the eldest sister, this is really relatable. I hope I wouldn't cover for my sister's murders, though! The narrator was excellent.

Historia
At the time of his murder trial, Jarvis Jay Masters was in solitary confinement and spent 22 years in a five-foot-by-11-foot cell. This is where The Buddhist on Death Row takes off. With uncanny clarity, David Sheff describes Masters’ path to enlightenment - from being sullen and violent to discovering how easy and how hard it is to just sit and breathe, how those minutes spawn heightened perception and deepened compassion, the right way to remember one’s pain, and much more.

Historia
In So Close to Being the Sh*t, Y'all Don't Even Know, Parks and Recreation star Retta takes us on her not-so-meteoric rise from roaches to riches (well, rich enough that she can buy $15,000 designer handbags yet scared enough to know she's always a heartbeat away from ramen with American cheese). Throwing her hardworking Liberian parents through a loop, Retta abandons her plan to attend med school after graduating Duke University to move to Hollywood to star in her own sitcom - like her comedy heroes Lucille Ball and Roseanne.

Relatable, Timely and Timeless!
Revisado: 10-08-21
The author makes so many great points using her real life experience that include many situations most of us can relate to. Most of us will find ourselves single at some point and this user-friendly guide can help any woman OR man enjoy their singleness, thrive through it, grow from it and come out knowing and loving themselves better than before. Read in the author's own voice, not only did it bring the book to life - I felt like I was taking a journey with her! - it made me laugh out loud more than once as I pictured what she shared! I highly recommend this audio book! I know you will get as much out of it as I did!
