Historia
Berlin, 1930—When a wave of change sweeps a radical political party to power, Sofie von Meyer Rhodes’s academic husband benefits from the ambitions of its newly elected chancellor. Although Sofie and Jürgen do not share the social views growing popular in Hitler’s Germany, Jürgen’s position with its burgeoning rocket program changes their diminishing fortunes for the better. But as Sofie watches helplessly, her beloved Berlin begins to transform, forcing her to consider what they must sacrifice morally for their young family’s security, and what the price for their neutrality will be.

Fantastic Novel!!!!

Exceptionally written and compelling story. I loved how the author was inspired by true events and integrated them into this sensational book. I plan to recommend this novel to all my fellow readers.

From the author of the “engrossing” (People) and “poignant” (Booklist) international best seller The Room on Rue Amélie comes a remarkable and moving story of love, danger, and betrayal: two women in France in the darkest days of World War II and another in present-day America on a quest to uncover the secret that connects them.

It Really Got Great ½ Way Through
Revisado: 09-25-23
The author did a wonderful job of integrating the tragic history of WW2 and current times. In the beginning, I had a difficult time getting into the story because I couldn’t keep the characters straight. The narrators were excellent. They made me feel like I was in France during WW2. The way the story lines were woven together was brilliant. Loved the surprise at the end!
Overall, this book was so much better than I thought it would be. I truly enjoyed it. There were many twists and turns that I didn’t expect. I was a little sad when I finished it.

Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn't let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving. Of course, if she'd known he'd request that she be his wife for 12 months, she'd have hesitated in accepting his help.

Loved this Story from the Beginning to the End!!!
Revisado: 09-25-23
The Favor is possibly one my favorite books! It’s my first novel by Suzanne Wright. I loved her writing style! Once I started this audio version, I did not want to turn it off. I stayed up past my bedtime listening and then woke up before my alarm went off so I could continue listening. This book was literally everything that I love in a book. The emotion, passion, humor, loyalty, protective partner, and love. It was as close to perfect for me as I could ever hope for. I absolutely loved the fake relationship story line. I will definitely listen to this book again. The narration was excellent. I highly recommend this audiobook!

Weak Plot – Could Have Been Better
Revisado: 09-06-23
The romance in the story was nothing great. The remainder of the story was simply boring. All of situations in the book were simply absurd. The relationship/interactions with others were far-fetched. I found myself rolling my eyes and thinking how phony, every context was: Sadie with her parents, Evan with his parents, plus Evan with his coach. The villain’s motivation in this story line was utterly absurd. I really wanted this book to be good. It just really, really wasn’t!

Very Engaging!
Revisado: 09-06-23
The Author did an excellent job bringing the book to life, but the book itself was a bit too long (too many details). I would have also liked a longer ending. The novel itself dark and very dramatic! At times, there was too much useless information given. Why would the author choose Gama for referencing the mother? It really bugged me! Plus Charlie and Sam for the daughters…what is that? I shouldn’t stereotype, but when I initially here those names I think of guys. Other than those criticisms, I found the storyline great and didn’t want the book to end!
BTW, Kathleen Early does an outstanding job with the narration!

Plot Was Unrealistic, But Still Good
Revisado: 08-27-23
I really wanted to love this book. Corrine Micheals is usually great. The story was just ok. The decisions that these characters made were just awful! The frustration came in when you couldn't tell the female lead anything about her past which is so unrealistic. Overall, it’s a sweet romance about falling in love with your brother’s best friend in a small town where everyone knows your business. There’s even a little suspense and mystery.

Strange/Cringe Worthy–But I Really Liked It!!!
Revisado: 07-15-23
I didn’t know what to expect with this book. It had so many mixed reviews and I almost didn’t listen to it, but I’m so glad I did! From the beginning, I found the book to be intriguing. Then as the story continued, heavy duty emotions, forbidden desires and rare sexual acts take place. Many times I thought to myself, could this actually happen? My life seems extremely sheltered in comparison to what transpired with these characters. There were several parts in this book where my jaw dropped and I was in shock. But in actuality, I have to say that I found the storyline compelling and I couldn’t get enough!

Extremely Violent Story Line….So Many Evil Twists!
Revisado: 07-05-23
PRETTY GIRLS is quite the thriller! It took me a while to get into the story but after familiarizing myself with the characters I really got into it. I didn’t realize it was going to be so graphic with all of the torture. At times, I couldn’t take it anymore and I needed to stop. This emotional roller coaster of twists and turns had this reader hanging on for dear life. Karin Slaughter does what few can do. She makes you feel the feelings of her characters. It is almost too real.
Kathleen Early did a great job with the narration.
