Historia
The Big Jewish Book for Jews brings together Jewish wit, inspiring tales, classic skills, and even pickle recipes, for the instruction and edification of the modern Jew. Readers will learn how to sacrifice a lamb unto the Lord, the rules of Canasta, how to build a pyramid (the Bernie Madoff and the Egyptian kind), and how not to accept the first table you are shown to in a restaurant.

Great book, but a little too…
Revisado: 04-15-23
Ashkenazi-focused. Funny dialogues and important self-effacing lessons and insights. Not too much mention of the Sephardim, Romaniot, or critiques of Zionism, topics of which are alive and well in the Jewish community.

Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! The power of communication shapes our professional goals, our relationships, and our lives—so the words we choose to use carry a great deal of power.

Amazing, useful, and needed!
Revisado: 03-28-23
I love this book! I grew up in a English-speaking household, but with a strong heritage language spoken at home and among family members. I really love grammar and everything having to do with language. I enjoy how the book breaks down how we can approach language and think of language, including fun topics, like culture and prescriptive and descriptive grammars. I’m thrilled that there are books like this. If you too really enjoyed this book, I recommend Seth Lehrer‘s Inventing English.

In planes and foxholes, in deserts and jungles, on ships and beaches, Ambrose shines a light on the people involved - the leaders, the fighters, the victims. With chapters on the atrocities of the Holocaust and revelations about the secret war of espionage, Ambrose's analysis also offers insight into the events that precipitated the Cold War.

An epic book with a great level of detail
Revisado: 01-29-23
Any student of history would really appreciate the depth and complexity presented in this volume. It’s a whole story approach to setting the stage behind the complex events on WW2 and the decisions leaders, armies, charlatans, and politicians took during this the most bloodiest of wars ever! A must read, a must listen! Enjoy!
