Historia
Seven years ago, six-year-old Maisie Earnshaw was found facedown in a duck pond, her body mutilated. Isabel - at age 14, found covered in Maisie's blood - was convicted of murder. As Leah spends time with Isabel, she comes to know her as a young woman with a sweet, gentle nature, someone she could never see as a murderer. Leah begins to suspect members of the Fielding family of framing Isabel as a young girl, and she's not the only one. True crime blogger James Gorden thinks Isabel is innocent, too.

Takes a long time to get going
Revisado: 12-10-23
All in the review title really. Glad I persevered, as I started to enjoy it about a third or so of the way in. Got a bit arduous towards the very end again.

Historia
They say that the Thorn of Camorr can beat anyone in a fight. They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning. He steals from the rich - they're the only ones worth stealing from - but the poor can go steal for themselves.

Excellent storytelling
Revisado: 07-27-23
I can't remember the last time I felt so invested in the characters of a novel, feeling seething loathing for some of them, desperately wishing I could skip to the last few pages to see if justice was done. I didn't immediately get into this book but it was very much worth the time. Excellent narration in this audio version.

Good but Dutch pronunciation lacking
Revisado: 01-27-23
It irritated me when the narrator couldn't pronounce Dutch names, particularly that of the main hotel in the story, but otherwise an enjoyable story presented well.

Historia
Mankind has lorded over the land of Illian for a thousand years, building on the ruins left by the elves, as if it were their birthright. A thousand years is a long time for an immortal race to see the truth of things, a truth that has remained unsaid for a millennium - elves are superior. They are faster, stronger, and connected to the magical realm in a way that man could never grasp. Illian should belong to them.

slow start, but engaging once it got going
Revisado: 11-21-21
The narrator has an odd cadence, missing what deem to be natural pauses sometimes. Engaging read/listen eventually, but it took a few chapters to get going. I'll be putting the next book in the series in my TBR list.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 11-10-20
The only negative is that the ending felt a bit rushed. Otherwise this was an enjoyable listen, and the content and performance had me both physically cringing and feeling heart-swelling joy.
