Historia
The legendary British actor Terence Stamp reads the book that he says 'changed his life'. This is an exploration of our existence and a journey towards enlightenment. In what the author calls 'the fine print' at the start of the book, David Carse wrote: 'There are many books out there that will help you to live a better life, become a better person, and evolve and grow to realise your potential as a spiritual being. This is not one of them....'

A keeper forever
Revisado: 01-12-22
Hardly open or think about any of the other hundred or so books I own on non-duality. David Carse describes; he does not prescribe—no methods or techniques as he constantly reminds us, there is me to do them or anything else. Terence Stamp obviously embraces this book whole heartedly. He reads as if he wrote it himself. Enjoy!

de-LI-cious!!!
Revisado: 06-03-21
Title a little misleading for some, maybe, BUT it’s an account of how all the creatures she studied and/or cared for from a very early age taught her to be a good creature. The content is fascinating and often lyrical, and the author’s narration brings it all to life. Exquisite.

No Happy Endings is an audiobook for people living life after life has fallen apart. It’s an audiobook for people who know they’re moving forward, not moving on. It’s an audiobook for people who know life isn’t always happy, but it isn’t the end: There will be unimaginable joy and incomprehensible tragedy. As Nora reminds us, there will be no happy endings - but there will be new beginnings.

Following the success of At Blackwater Pond, this second CD from best-selling poet Mary Oliver contains a selection of 37 previously published poems and four as yet uncollected, read by the poet in her steady, magnetic voice. Oliver recites from the full range of her poetry - from her classic nature writing, to her verses for her mischievous bichon Percy, to her ever-deepening spiritual poems. Many Miles will be a most welcome addition to the collections of her fans.

Poems read aloud. Ahhh.
Revisado: 05-24-20
Some scholar said that poems were meant to be read aloud. And, I’ve never experienced any as these read aloud by their author, Mary Oliver. Her reading endows these exquisite observations with eloquent and moving language that moves me in every line. We miss you Mary Oliver.

Historia
We suffer from the most insidious kind of addiction - one we don't even realize we have. It is the addiction to power itself. Both the Twelve Steps of recovery and the ancient teaching of Advaita reveal that powerlessness is the secret to genuine strength. The proposition that lasting peace in life can come through the recognition of complete personal powerlessness may seem counterintuitive and ultimately ridiculous. Yet, lasting peace is the miracle The Way of Powerlessness makes possible.

Unimaginably helpful and masterfully written blending of 12 Steps and Advaita
Revisado: 03-13-20
I never imagined that the 12 Steps could be so accessible and helpful. I’ve always found the Big Book off-putting, but Wayne, by skillfully including the philosophy of Advaita, has helped me see them from a very different and welcome perspective. To me, Wayne Liquorman brought personal and independent powerlessness out of mere scholarship to an everyday way of life for people like me. The only other writer who compares is Ramesh Balsekar, especially his early writings. Try Wayne and Ramesh, both uncomplicated and accomplished writers.

Beautiful evolution of parent and child relationship
Revisado: 11-19-19
I am 71 years old and never experienced any one moment much less years of parental interest in my life. I understand, now, that that just wasn’t possible for them. So, I was intrigued by Mr. Finnegan’s story of how it came about for Mollie and him. His respect for Mollie’s choice to climb and his growing admiration for her effort were carefully and honestly revealed. And, his interview of her at the end revealed a mutual respect and honesty that brought tears to my eyes. So well done. Wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

Acclaimed scientist Hope Jahren has built three laboratories in which she's studied trees, flowers, seeds, and soil. Her first book might have been a revelatory treatise on plant life. Lab Girl is that, but it is also so much more. Because in it, Jahren also shares with us her inspiring life story, in prose that takes your breath away.

Revisado: 11-10-19
Jahren drew me right into her desire to know and experience what I’ve always known unscientifically. Years ago something prompted me to meditate and imagine what would be like to be a tree. I actually felt like a tree. It startled me so tat I pulled out of it in shock. Wish I’d stayed with it. I am always grateful to find others who have the respect and awe that I have. Than-you Ms.Jahren!

Historia
A Course in Miracles (ACIM) - the self-study spiritual-thought system that teaches the way to love and forgiveness - has captivated the minds and captured the hearts of millions of people. Delivering inner peace where fear and pain once prevailed, its universal message is unsurpassed in its power to heal. Yet many students report that they have difficulty grasping the principles or keeping up with the lessons. So even while they yearn for the spiritual freedom the course offers, they put the book aside, hoping to get to it one day.

Much meat in this
Revisado: 03-01-19
Much meat that I’d forgotten about the Course. Would, though have done with fewer anecdotal stories and Mr. Cohen’s narration which seemed as though he was stiffly reading another author’s book. There seemed to be concern about perfect enunciation rather than just conveying his understanding from where he was. But I increased speed to 1.5 times the recorded speed, and the unnecessary and tiresome pauses between every phrase were less noticeable. I wanted to say, “just relax and bring the message in your present enjoyment of it”. David Hawkins, who never claimed to be a teacher of anything used to say that by ACIM’s Lesson 75, you realize that your thoughts don’t mean anything. There is the liberation. I am inspired by Alan Cohen to actually practice the lessons til that point is clear and unassailable. This understanding, though, doesn’t have to be at or about Lesson 75. The first three lessons can be enough for some. And, maybe it is enough to hear and accept that the ego is a severely limited idea. I like what one “awakened” one recently said in a YouTube clip. He said “the Course is great at showing you what you are NOT. What could be left to say or think about as to what you are? Then, you put the Course away as a learning tool.” So, I believe that ACIM, the 12 steps in the 12 Step Program and other such methods are tools to reveal what we are not, and with luck, yes “luck”, as most masters say, there is the dawning, and what we thought we were is not there. Good luck! And I say that most sincerely!

Historia
On the surface, the Victorian age is one of propriety, industry, prudishness and piety. But scratch the surface and you’ll find scandal, sadism, sex, madness, malice and murder. Presented by Stephen Fry, this series delves deep into a period of time we think we know, to discover an altogether darker reality. The stories we’re told offer a different perspective on an era which underwent massive social change. As education, trade, technology and culture blossomed, why was there an undercurrent of the ‘forbidden’ festering beneath Victorian society?

Revisado: 11-11-18
First two secrets were presented in the first two chapters of about 40 minutes each of the most unpleasant, ghoulish human behavior. Perhaps I misread the publisher ‘s description. Didn’t listen to anymore. I’m not squeamish, but was expecting something different.
