Historia
Zach grew in power and thrived in the post-Framework world. He became a respected leader, a shining example of what it meant to be good. But as the world ended, he had only one thought: to punish the monster that had killed the world long before the Framework ended it. Yet not even with his incredible power was he able to stand against the World Ender. His arrival in the new realty, the Infinite Realm, gives him the chance to grow stronger, to find the monster again-and make it pay.

Good world building
Revisado: 08-22-24
Some parts seem slow but that’s an unfortunate evil of world building. A little overly complex with some of the explanations, but the plot is interesting and the back and forth between past and present day is well done.

Historia
Plain-spoken, headstrong Ophelia cares little about appearances. Her ability to read the past of objects is unmatched in all of Anima, and, what’s more, she possesses the ability to travel through mirrors, a skill passed down to her from previous generations. Her idyllic life is disrupted, however, when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn and influential member of a distant clan. She must leave all she knows behind and follow her fiancé to Citaceleste, the capital of a cold, icy ark known as the Pole, where danger lurks around every corner and nobody can be trusted.

Enthralling although slow start
Revisado: 09-09-20
Well created world, and a heroine with an ACTUAL brain! Not the sharpest, but way better than so many heroines who survive on luck and stubborn personalities. Slow start, but it’s worth it. Storyline is intriguing and keeps you guessing.

Predictable. A step back for women.
Revisado: 12-23-19
I love Nicholas Sparks books and was excited to run across this although I generally end up crying. This one was not good. The female main character was abominable, stubborn, and perhaps the densest lead. The fact she was supposed to be a super intelligent attorney was severely impaired by the fact she was repeatedly useless due to simply being pathetic or to “panic attacks.” An she was simply a sitting duck except she found a strong man who has never finished college to be the brain power she lacked and do all the problem solving.

Aka a very long prologue setting up for something else and not a very admirable heroine. Where's the girl power? Do heroines have to be bad tempered and irrational and seem hormonal?!

Revisado: 08-31-17
I'm all about a new angle for a classic, but this was overly predictable and pretentious and inconsistent. The characters lacked any charm, and the "accents" are ... Not good.

An unfortunate heroine
Revisado: 08-23-17
Why can't a heroine retain her brain power when she has emotions? Very sexist. So disappointing after a fantastic first book.

Detective lavender ... Ugh
Revisado: 08-13-17
Decent plot, decent character definition, very superficial, and not all the plots were tied up. The detective was misogynistic and annoying. There was potential for so much more. The villains were quite dislikable as well, but it was too obvious for a good mystery.

Hard to keep going
Revisado: 07-16-17
Love this author, and I understand the delicate damaged character she was trying to create for us, hardening into a stronger woman. However, this heroine has become wholly unlikeable on her path to self discovery. At times I hated her so much I didn't think I could keep listening. can't we have a strong female heroine who can strive for independence without being a total jerk on the way? I can't stop reading or listening. But this book was difficult.

Enthralling and heartwrenching
Revisado: 12-07-16
Fantastic characters who share their emotion and growth with you. You are frustrated when they are angry, you are sad when they are remorseful. I wanted to stay in the present at first in the world of competitive ballet in Paris in the 70s, but as the story line develops and the mysteries draw you in, I wanted to stay in the Spanish civil war story. I had been wary of this since there weren't a lot of reviews although this is not a brand new audiobook. However, this gamble payed off. I could hardly stop listening. Even plugging in with my eyes closed for a few more minutes at night before falling asleep. Great ties between family generations portraying the love and both the misunderstanding and understandings across generations.
