Historia
A gifted young knight named Collum arrives at Camelot to compete for a place at the Round Table, only to find that he’s too late. King Arthur died two weeks ago at the Battle of Camlann, and only a handful of the knights of the Round Table are left. The survivors aren’t the heroes of legend like Lancelot or Gawain. They’re the oddballs of the Round Table, like Sir Palomides, the Saracen Knight, and Sir Dagonet, Arthur’s fool, who was knighted as a joke. They’re joined by Nimue, who was Merlin’s apprentice until she turned on him and buried him under a hill.

So boring
Revisado: 02-20-25
I’m on chapter 10 and the essence of the story so far is a gay knight’s unrequited love for King Arthur. I just can’t continue on with a book this boring. The first chapter was good yet all downhill from there. I enjoyed Grossman’s Magician series but I just can’t continue on with this book.

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

So much detail and it’s boring
Revisado: 02-20-25
I’m at chapter 16 and honestly not one interesting thing has happened. Right now she’s discussing the cupcakes at a picnic and this sums up most of the events. Oh a raven brings a ring. That and tarot cards are supposed to garner a readers attention for this long?? Always a huge fan of this author but even needing background, build up, etc, there’s no excuse for wasting this much of my time. Not sure I’ll continue on. Narrator is the same as previous stories and excellent, but she can’t save this one. PS So I continued on with no redemption for this book. Unless you are a witch I absolutely can’t understand the high ratings. A few encounters with Matthew can’t save this book. Even if this might end with a cliffhanger I won’t waste the last 3 hours on it. Be gone boring book! What have you done with Mistress Harkness?

Angst
Revisado: 01-05-25
Angst is even mentioned in this book several times. It basically sums up this story. If you’re over 16, I can’t believe you’d be ok with the ending. Ben is a jerk sums up the story. 2 stars bc I didn’t quit the book. And great narrators.

Historia
An evil has risen in the land, one that, if not dealt with, threatens to start a war which would include the gods themselves. To counter it, the realm must call on its greatest heroes, its most courageous adventurers. Unfortunately, those great heroes, those brave adventurers, are all busy - being dead mostly. So it is left to Dannen Ateran, known in his youth as the Bloody Butcher, but more recently as the passed-out drunk at the table in the corner, to lead his companions against an army of the dead.

First book is a win!
Revisado: 10-04-24
This apparently is the author’s first book. And he hit it out of the park. Likable characters, a story that doesn’t lag, and full of magic. I’ll be looking for other books in the future, hopefully a sequel.

Historia
Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

Wasn’t great
Revisado: 09-24-24
I wouldn’t read any others by this author. Barely got through this one. The main character had no idea what or who she wanted. The story wasn’t scary or exciting and the narrator’s voice started to get annoying quickly.

I never buy stories about mythical gods or angels but the reviews and storyline called to me. Romantasy at it’s best and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Started out well, fizzled
Revisado: 08-21-24
Had a good concept in the beginning. Then it just seemed the author was snatching things out of the air. Very dramatic. Even with a magical storyline I like some order. I did finish the book though.

Revisado: 06-15-24
I really enjoyed the series, especially the first book. The second wasn’t as captivating yet still interesting. This book seemed written for 5th graders. Try’s to pull you in with silly creatures, etc. Sorry to see the last of MBot but I won’t be continuing on.

One of King’s stories that seems like a rerun. Disappointing, I’d choose another book. Narrator was very good but even he couldn’t make this seem original.
