Historia
Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Amazing all time classic

I’ve listened to this book several times and watched the mini series twice. I just can’t get enough of this historical fiction that touches on so many big pre-WWII events. It keeps my attention and transports me back in time.

Great book to eat, wait, read, during the holidays
Revisado: 12-04-17
I saved this for reading during the season. I think these get better with each book. Yes, they are super corny, but I love them? They are clean too, and, I'm not a prude, but I get sick of listening to all the rated x scenes.
There is romance, mystery, intrigue. I'll admit, this one was predictable as to who the bad guy(s) were, but I love all the story that leads up. It's fun, cute, and festive. I also can't stop reading because I want to know who she eventually chooses, vampire, or elf... Great books to eat, wait, read during the holiday season :-)

Happy ending with a bit of sad reality mixed in
Revisado: 10-24-17
In this final book of the Pine River Saga, we learn more about Emma Tyler, and what has made her the way she is. We also get to read the rest of Leo's story. I absolutely love that the author brought in characters from other series of hers that I have read.
I actually didn't think Leo was going to make it to his big game, but, now that I have read the book, I understand why it was written that he did make it. Having had a family member die from a terminal illness, I can remember how, once a big date or event was reached, things went quickly from there. I like the description of Leo running though, that is how I picture it as well.
As for Emma, I had to laugh at her feeling that the men each owed her something. Especially given the recent news out of Hollywood, you almost agree with her, but you don't agree with her motives for being with them in the first place. I did like the climax of how Cooper found out just how deep the issue was. I also liked what happened with the St. Christopher Metal.
No big surprises in this book, but, definitely a good happy ending story, with a little bit of sad reality mixed in.

Loved the twists, turns, and valleys
Revisado: 10-20-17
I read Pine River #1 some time ago, and it wasn't my favorite Julia London book, so I missed the release of this book. I enjoyed, "Return to Homecoming Ranch," much more than, "Homecoming Ranch." I felt like there was much more depth to this book than the first. Many similar books are very predictable, but I am not ashamed to say that I did not predict most of the twists, turns, and valleys of this one. If I were to list the biggest disappointment of the book, it would be the lack of description for the ***Spoiler Alert*** Turkey Trot. I also missed further development of Marisol's character, but loved the additional insight into Danny.

Historia
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.
