Historia
Azureseas. A world of sandy beaches under a yellow-orange sun. Human developers could turn it into the next great tourist world of the Consortia...except for its large, dangerous native animals. Ross Cantrell joined the animal control mission on Azureseas to earn the money he needed to marry and start a life together with his girlfriend. Dirty work, but necessary to keep people safe. Like plinking tree cats back home. Then Ross discovers the truth about the planet’s “animals”.

This was a freebie that was given to me in exchange for an honest review. This was an interesting book about...well almost everything that I like. It was like a summer blockbuster with plenty of intrigue, crashes and explosions, tech geekiness with hackers and a rich villain. You know I wanted in immediately. The pacing leaves a lot on the table but overall, it was a good way to spend just over seven hours. Glad I took a chance.

Historia
Solitary space jock Landry Krieger eked out a living transporting data throughout the Settled Galaxy - and boosted his income by smuggling people into and out of star systems past the watchful eyes of governments, in hiding places he built in his ship, Midnight Angel. When the priests of Tao Pacem sought his services, he resisted. A plan to sneak the reincarnation of their spiritual leader to their conquered homeworld to spark a rebellion against their oppressors? After earlier experiences with religious leaders, he would need far more than 300,000 galaxycoins to say yes.

This was a freebie that was given to me in exchange for an honest review. This was an interesting book about a part-time smuggler who gets caught up in larger events. Just the blurb alone gave me Han Solo/Firefly vibes and I wanted in immediately. It's nowhere near either one of those but was really good in it's own right. Glad I took a chance.

Brutal beauty
Revisado: 08-23-24
This was a series that I could sink my teeth into. The worldbuilding is beautifully brutal...or is it brutal beauty? The characters were vivid, engaging, exotic and complex. As the storyline progresses, so does the landscape. I absolutely adored this second and am looking forward to the next audiobook.

I really liked the first book and wasn't sure if book 2 was going to be able to keep it going. Well it has, it does, and now I need book 3. Excellent 2nd book. There is plenty of action and intrigue, especially with the princess. There is so much that goes on in this book that you have to pay attention or you'll get confused. Seriously though this was an off the charts 2nd book and I am impatiently waiting for book 3.

David Burke has knocked another one out of the park. One of his trademarks is the skillful blending of spice, romance, magic/powers and politics (can't get away from politics). Then you add the voice talents of Wisniewski and Woods to the mix and you get this new story. I just hope book 2 isn't too far behind.

There better be more books!
Revisado: 12-08-23
At the end of this book, I felt like it could end there or that it was the end of an arc. NO! This story must continue. I've enjoyed this series from book 1 and haven't been disappointed at all. The narrators are the characters at this point and not just the voice of the character. There isn't much more to say without spoiling the book so I'll end this with...This series has my full endorsement.

Good beginning.
Revisado: 12-08-23
Pretty good overall. I will say that I found the male voices in my head while reading, were better than the audio version. That's just my personal opinion. The female voices were much better than my mind could produce (I guess that's my lack of voice imagination). The pacing was pretty good as well. So, now I'll give you the bad. There was nothing that really stood out as exciting or that grabbed me and made me feel like I had t get the next book in the series. I was a solid story and listening experience. I'll probably grab the next one because I'm curious to see what happens next.

Continuing a great adventure
Revisado: 12-08-23
I'm a big fan of this series. This is such a vivid world with well-developed characters, excellent pacing and storyline integrity. I enjoyed this episode, though not as much as some of the others, and will probably do a re-listen when the next book comes out. I know I missed some things on my first run through. Excellent performance by Landon and Erin.

Not bad at all
Revisado: 11-03-23
First, let me reiterate that this was not a bad book at all. There were times that I was a little lost, but I chalk that up to not having listened to Raven's Sphere. Now for the critique. This book could have used a little more polish. There were places where the writing could have been a bit better or smother or less choppy. That's just my opinion though, and since I can't write a book myself, take it with a grain of salt. I hope this author has more to offer because there is a lot of potential in this series, As they say, practice makes you more proficient. There is no such thing as perfection.
