Historia
This mesmerizing novel tells the story of a brutal murder in the staid Tokyo suburbs, as a young mother who works the night shift making boxed lunches strangles her abusive husband and then seeks the help of her coworkers to dispose of the body and cover up her crime. The coolly intelligent Masako emerges as the plot's ringleader but quickly discovers that this killing is merely the beginning, as it leads to a terrifying foray into the violent underbelly of Japanese society.

SUPER ANNOYING
Revisado: 08-04-18
i was looking for an "in between book" to get away for a while from it all. However, this is the most annoying performance by some narrators as I have encountered for a while. the daughter is really awful and the main narrator trying to be male (s) is a disaster. The story is thin and predictable.
Forget this one.

Narrator is sometimes a little grating
Revisado: 07-01-18
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and most of the time the performance. When doing other characters, however, she is like fingers on a black board. And in the finale, she did not sound like a man.

Historia
It's 1991. Near Checkpoint Zulu, 100 miles from the Kuwaiti border, Thomas Benton meets Arwood Hobbes. Benton is a British journalist who reports from war zones in part to avoid his lackluster marriage and a daughter he loves but cannot connect with; Arwood is a Midwestern American private who might be an insufferable ignoramus or might be a genuine lunatic with a death wish - it's hard to tell.

UNEVEN AT TIMES, BUT COMPLEX STORY
Revisado: 11-05-17
It is a very complex story, so if it is uneven at times, that is understandable. it kept me spellbound most of the time.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Craziest great story ever
Revisado: 10-16-17
Once you catch on about the story of this book, you start loving it. I hardly ever write a review of the many books I listen to, but this one I want to tell everybody about.
In the beginning I was a little confused where it was going, but stay with it.
Perfect narrator for this book; just as crazy as the writer.

NOT VERY BELIEVABLE
Revisado: 05-03-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I found the story VERY contrived. Enjoyed the parts about the Netherlands.
What could Marion Pauw have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
More thoroughly researched autism, especially the kind Ray had.

The narrator saves the day. This is not the best Kate Morton. Too lengthy, too many twists and turns and an incomprehensible ending.

TERRIBLE ACCENTS
Revisado: 12-26-15
Would you try another book from Anne Girard and/or Leslie Carroll?
Maybe
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Story is ok. In the end it IS a real story.
How could the performance have been better?
The accents are horrible and unnecessary. I was at the point of giving up the book, if I heard "Moulin Ruuuge" one more time, but made it through. The Picasso accent from a woman made me feel that the producer (s) thought we are all stupid and cannot (from the writing) ascertain that it is now Picasso speaking/thinking.
Do you think Madame Picasso needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
What? After her death? Why?
Any additional comments?
Please redo with a different narrator.

May We Be Forgiven, a darkly comic novel of 21st-century domestic life, stars Harold Silver, a historian who's always been jealous of his successful brother, George. But when the hot-tempered George is institutionalized for committing a violent act, Harold finds himself comforting his brother's wife and children. What follows is a scathing examination of a family so fractured it may never be whole again.

WEIRD BUT FASCINATING
Revisado: 08-03-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is like reading a newspaper, where 20 unbelievable things happen, and have them happen to one family. Car accident, husband killing his wife. Random sex with a stranger. You name if, it is here.
Somehow, you feel for the characters.
