Excellent
Revisado: 10-29-24
I really liked the story, the plot, the characters, and the narration. I plan follow the John Puller series since the character is interesting. The only drawback is that the auther is not good with accurate details regarding firearms. I am not an expert either but with basic knowledge I can detect incorrect details here and there which detract a little from an otherwise perfect story. Not a huge big deal and did not affect my review.

But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good and left him with an improbable side effect - he can never forget anything.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Story is good- Narration is hard to follow
Revisado: 10-29-24
I really like narration split between performers usually since it adds contrast and depth which for me helps with immersion. In the case of this title, the male characters all sounded the same.... The male characters all sounded like they were mentally challenged. The female characters all sounded the same so it would be difficult to discern between characters during dialogue. The story was pretty good, not great. I did make it to the end and plan to get the next title in the series to see if it gets any better.

Historia
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 10-29-24
First, I thought the narration was exceptional and the reason I listened to the end. I am not sure of the point of the story since it was hard to identify with the characters. It moved along pretty well and was easy to follow so it was not really bad, but at the same time I would not recommend it to a friend.

Historia

Revisado: 08-06-24
The story is engaging with really strong character development. As a listener/reader I felt the characters were realistic and relatable. The book reminded me a little of "A Time to Kill" but obviously very different but a similar vibe. The experience made me a little more sensitive to racial enequity and our nation's history. I am buying a hard copy for my mom and probably some of my friends as I think this should be required reading. It's an excellent story with some of the best narration I've heard in a while with real male or female voices so that added to the immersion effect. I would recommend this to a friend.

Pretty good narration of a really bad story
Revisado: 06-14-23
I like vampire stories. "Nosferatu" means vampire to me, so when I saw the title, I read the reviews, and ignored the negative ones. Some folks are just hard to please and hate everything, right? Well they were right. The story in my opintion was OK at times and somewhat fun and interesting, but it is irreverant and outright vile and repugnant where it does not need to be. A good story can stand on it's own. It does not need to be "edgy" to be good. I am not a prude but found myself continually offended by the content which was not overshadowed by a great story. I got about half way through and basically said "that's it, keep my credit." Buyer beware.

Really good... fast paced and addictive.
Revisado: 04-03-23
The Tier One book 1 was free to listen on Audible for while so I took a chance with it. I wound up loving it from the first minute to the end. The characters are great and the narration was fantastic. I won't give away anything by saying anything else, other than if you like book 1 it gets better and better as the series progresses. I listened all the way to book 6 and just loved it.

Not good at all
Revisado: 03-09-23
Sorry. 4.5 stars is not accurate and borderline dishonest IMO. There is no way. The only good 2 things about it was that it was free and included with Audible and the character performance was really good. If it was a good story then I would have agreed with 4.5 stars.
It's I dare say a "woke" peice, which is fine, but I think that was the point. The actual story was predicatble and kinda dumb.
I hate to be harsh since it was a short story, and again free, but if the reviews really reflected the quality, I would have happily skipped it. If this is test for a longer story it's a fail.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

I struggled with this one and would not recommend
Revisado: 03-09-23
I wanted to love this like I loved all the rest of Anne Rice's work. This story was just very long and full of details and backstory that I found very difficult to follow. I'm not really kidding that at points I felt a white board would haver helped to keep up with the geneology backstory. I had to break it up into a lot of small pieces vs binging since I would get board and tune out.
Narratrion. It wasn't bad but also not good. The female narration of male characters had an emasculating effect which made the story sort of a slog.
If I had read honest reviews beforehand I would not have bought this,. Now I have Lasher and Talos to slog through since I got all three at the same time !! I might just take the hit and skip them.
